The investments and upgrades that the major carriers have made to their networks in 2021 seem to be paying off so far.  We’ve seen strong on-time delivery performance from both USPS and UPS. FedEx on-time delivery numbers are now showing significant improvement.

Overall, the carrier networks are in good shape as we approach the busiest time of year. However, while the early signs are encouraging, the real crunch lies ahead.

Our team is in constant communication with the carriers, looking at volume trends, tracking scans, and other network data. We continue to make adjustments to delivery date estimates to ensure buyers have the most accurate expectation based on current trends. Sellers don’t need to adjust handling times to account for delays and will always receive credit for on-time shipping if there is an acceptance scan within the stated handling time.

For international shipping, eBay international standard delivery and the Global Shipping Program’s delivery times remain reliable and competitive against other services. It is also worth noting that unlike some services, eBay international standard delivery still serves Australia and New Zealand.

We will continue to monitor shipping issues that may impact delivery times and/or costs. Updates will be posted throughout the holiday season to help inform your shipping decisions.

November Smart Ship Tip: Check our 2021 Holiday Carrier Shipping Deadlines table to make sure your packages arrive in time for the holidays.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay, and Happy Holidays!
