Active content in your listings, such as JavaScript and Flash, hinders mobile purchases, creates longer load times, and may be prone to security vulnerabilities. To ensure the best shopping experience, we’re asking sellers to replace active content in listings now—before it’s disabled in all listings across all devices starting Monday, June 26th.
In the event you sell in multiple regions, please be aware that active content has already been disabled for all European sites.
If you haven’t yet revised your listings to remove active content, elements within the item description may not function properly. If there is Flash, JavaScript, form actions, or plug-ins in your listings, you should update them now to ensure there are no disruptions to your business.
How can you tell if your listings contain active content?
Since March 2017, we have been emailing sellers alerting them which of their listings contain active content.
Please follow these steps to determine if your listings contain active content.
- Step 1: Identify. Click here and log in to see which of your listings contain active content.
- Step 2: Remove. Our “help me fix it” tool shows exactly what elements of your listing need to be revised. To use it, go to your active listings view in Seller Hub.
Then, select “Edit” on each listing you identified in Step 1. Above the Item Description, you will see an alert that will help you remove active content.
Please note, if you use a third-party listing tool or templates, you should check with your provider to confirm they are compliant with the active content changes.
