Works In Progress

These are for some new bamboo tile/domino pendants. I'm not sure how many different kinds of animals and creatures I want to draw yet. I like to start with th eyes. I didn't have a US penny nearby so I used this Canadian coin.

Re: Works In Progress

Yes - she is just stunning!! Love the work you do Matthew - so unique and lovely!!! Here is a WIP of a new series I'm doing, Everyday Witch's Days. The first series sold so well, these are bigger - am keeping my fingers crossed... -- ....Sarah.... Re: Works In Progress

Thanks everyone! For my next trick, I am making another paper sculpture from the same drawing - but reduced to ACEO size... It will be made up of almost the same number of pieces (the necklace will be a few less pieces and the background will be simpler...)... -- Edited by papermatthew at 05/15/2009 1:40 PM PDT

Re: Works In Progress

Here are the pieces for the ACEO sized mermaid... It has 5 fewer pieces than the big mermaid had (all from the necklace...) Next comes the shaping and gluing... -- Edited by papermatthew at 05/15/2009 4:55 PM PDT

Re: Works In Progress

Matthew, it's amazing how you create life and flow with just paper! Thanks so much for sharing your process. My jaw's on the floor and I'm drooling just a little bit ;) I remember being fascinated by the paper illustrations in some of my ChildCraft books so many years ago. I'm still fascinated! -- -Ann "Now, go away, or I shall taunt you a second time."

Re: Works In Progress

Thanks Jillian and Ann! Here's everything shaped and some parts put together(except the hair and necklace...) Then everything put together without the hair... And here's the finished ACEO.. It didn't turn out perfect - but I'm amazed I was able to do it at all since it was from a larger drawing... I need to get some thinner paper to use for really fine details on small sculptures... I'll be listing it later today, probably starting at 99 cents... Matthew -- Edited by papermatthew at 05/16/2009 2:14 AM PDT

Re: Works In Progress

I just realized that the shadows on the picture I posted aren't great (makes the face look worse than it really is...), so here's a picture with different lighting... Matthew -- Edited by papermatthew at 05/16/2009 3:23 AM PDT
