·2 months agoI have just had a watch with 100% verified provenance not pass the authentication process. My (sold) listing was cancelled and buyer is not able to complete the sale. It is a 1985 Breitling that has been worked on by Breitling, (battery change) as well as a company that only works on authentic Breitlings. Is there any recourse or appeal process?

I recently purchased a NEW Alpina chronograph from an authorized Alpina dealer. It has apparently been authenticated and is on its way to me. In the past, shipments from the authenticator were sent by FedEx and were insured. This shipment is apparently coming by USPS — and according to USPS tracking, was sent by Ground Select with only $100 of insurance. For this, I paid $31.70 in shipping charges?
And what recourse do I have if the watch is damaged in transit? Is the shipper using a third-party insurance service? Or something like jeweler’s bench insurance? And if so, what is the coverage amount? What is the appropriate claim process in the event of loss or damage?
Bottom line: If the authenticator is in fact shipping watches without adequate insurance — which I hope is not taking place — the added risk clearly outweighs any benefit from the authentication process. Should this in fact be the case, I think sellers and buyers need a way to opt out of eBay authentication.

·11 months agoI sold an OAKLEY MINUTE MACHINE TIME TANK GEN 1 TITANIUM CHRONOGRAPH WATCH. I replaced with a new silver oxide battery and shipped to buyer in Florida. Within 30 minutes of delivery, he messaged me saying he went to a jeweler and sent pictures saying that the battery leaked and corroded it. He wants $350 or a return.
I called my jeweler who replaced the battery and showed him the photos and he said that was not what happened. That the battery would show white residue rather than reddish/rust colored spots which indicates water damage.
I also consulted ChatGPT and found that it is extremely rare for this to happen and that unless the battery itself was dead or hit or under high temperatures, this could not occur.
I have filed a case against this buyer for fraud. It is pending eBay’s review. I know this is a scam and feel very unsafe selling my late husband’s collection here. What is my recourse?

·1 year agoI'm having issue with your Speed Pak policy flagging my account, even though I don't ship from China. I have contacted CS for many months and they have confirmed that this is a glitch but no fix since. I believe many other SEA sellers is facing the same issue.
This issue only affects US orders. The only work around that I know of is to exclusively do express shipping (which increased the total prices of my item a lot).
Can you please fix this issue?

·1 year agoI bought a Rolex for my wife as a gift. The ebay authentication failed to disclose the watch does not run, has water damage, and the date numbers are peeling off. I saw the dates peeling in the magnification window but the authenticator failed to note any of this. My watch repair will cost $1500. The seller, watch collectors.com refused to pay for repair and will not pay for shipping to return the watch. He said that because ebay had authenticated the watch there cannot be anything wrong with it! I will not buy any other watches on eBay. I am very disappointed with the seller who described the watch as being in "very excellent" condition and with ebay.

·1 year agoToday I received a Panerai box but no Panerai watch inside the box. There was no eBay certificate of authenticity either. Though FedEx shows that it was shipped to someone that verified the watch authenticity. Either the seller sent an empty box or the verification partner sent an empty box. Either way, the eBay verification partner failed. I have started the fraud process to reverse charges. I've bought lots of watches from eBay - first experience like this.

·1 year agoToday, there is yet another counterfeit vintage Glycine Airman listed from a seller in Texas. This one is identical to the one I reported about a week ago. That one was taken down either by the seller after I informed him that it was counterfeit, or perhaps eBay had a change of heart and requested it be taken down
This one is eBay item number:205137875559. A comparison with a genuine vintage Glycine Airman (eBay item number:235847698285 for example) will show that the hands are incorrect, the font used for the text on the dial is incorrect, the case back has no markings. The Glycine crown logo was never printed on a genuine Airman dial in all white; it is only printed as a white outline.
This would be the third counterfeit vintage Glycine Airman on eBay since October 20

·1 year agoEarlier today I reported a seller listing a counterfeit vintage Glycine Airman. These counterfeit Airman show up on eBay three of four times a year. I always report them; sometimes they are taken down after the seller is informed, sometimes not.
Not long ago a buyer paid over $900 for a counterfeit Glycine Airman that I had reported. In fact the watch was sold twice. Apparently, the first buyer, probably realizing it was counterfeit, returned it. The seller relisted it and sold the watch a second time.
Here is the response from eBay for the counterfeit vintage Airman that sold and for the one that is currently listed. In both instances, eBay refuses to accept that the watches are counterfeit.
"We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence."
As the Glycine factory appointed "Heritage" repairer for vintage Glycine watches in the U.S., I have seen dozens of vintage Glycine Airman and can easily identify counterfeits. There is absolutely no doubt that the currently listed watch is counterfeit. The automated eBay response is beyond frustrating. What does it take for my expertise to be taken seriously?
Obviously, eBay does not want to be known for selling counterfeit trademarked goods

·2 years agoI just sold my Hublot Areo Bang and I offer free shipping. I have a service that I use to ship through FedEx that will insure the value of the watch. eBay is forcing me to use their label, which only insures up to $1000. My watch sold over $9000. How do I cancel Ebay label and not get charged so I can print one with the company I use?

·2 years agoHello. I'm looking at a watch for $2,300. However, it does not have the Authenticity Guaranteed logo. can I pay extra to have it authenticated? other watches have the logo or state that you can pay extra to add this service. this watch doesn't seem to offer that.

·2 years agoThis is Althewatchman, I'm seeing a significant drop in used/refurbished watch sales. Is this because of the new tax requirements or just buyers reluctant to buy in this particular market at this time or inflation cutting into disposable income etc.??
I sell predominately "Buy it Now" not through "Auction Only" sales. I have hardly sold any of my watches at auction, I just do not see a good return that way.
