Me, providing support for Trading API
Summary: ocles_inc humorously reflects on their place in the technology adoption curve, noting their use of older cars and reliance on the eBay Trading API for their business. They acknowledge the need to modernize but express gratitude for the API's continued functionality. They invite others in similar situations to reach out for advice and support, offering insights and professional help.
Where do you think I belong, in the technology adoption curve?
I drive a 27-year old Audi as daily transportation, and until relatively recently, my daily transportation was my 1973 Volvo 145, which I long ago converted from fuel injection to Weber carburetors. So -- perhaps you can guess?
I am a custom software developer, but I also have my own eBay Store business, and I use the eBay Trading API for much of the relevant automation. You might laugh but it's better than my previous plan, which was to deliver to eBay my listings on chiseled granite slabs, delivered by oxcart. I have indeed modernized, but perhaps not enough yet.
I know, I know: one of the things that I need to do is to migrate away from the eBay Trading API. I intend to do so. Specifically, I intend to do so after I file my taxes, floss more, exercise more and eat better. I struggle to keep up with everything. Can you tell?
eBay is shutting down the functionality of the Trading API more and more, but what does remain of the eBay Trading API is keeping my business going, and I am grateful for every day that this is in effect. I am grateful for the time it buys me as I continue the great American tradition of kicking the can down the road.
If you are in the same boat, well aware that the eBay Trading API is on its way out yet it is still keeping your eBay business going, then feel free to write me on here. I've learned a few things, figured out a few things, and you're welcome to my opinions (free) and professional software developer services (initially also free but ideally not free forever).
PS: If you need used parts for a 1973 Volvo or a 2000 model year Audi A6 Quattro, you can talk to me about that, too. :-)
