Best Practice Expiring Data and Refreshing Temporary Data Cache
Summary: bekindpleaserewind is seeking advice on best practices for refreshing cached data in compliance with eBay's License Agreement, specifically within a six-hour window. They are concerned about hitting API limits using the buy/browse API for refreshing all data and inquire about an appropriate API for delisting items no longer available. They express interest in a potentially more efficient method, such as a subscription or notification system, but have not found one. Suggestions on best practices and suitable APIs are requested.
Hello fellow eBay developers!
I have a best practice question. In order to stay inline with the eBay License Agreement as I understand it, cached data has a few requirements. I am trying to understand best practice for refreshing data with in the six hour time window to ensure it is current and delisting requirements when an item is no longer available.
Can someone recommend what API is best to handle this? Being the buy/browse API is limited in API calls, the idea of updating all cache every 6 hours seems like it would hit API limits. Is there a more appropriate API for updating cache? Also, is there an API that is recommended for handling when an item is no longer available and needs to be removed from the cache? I was hoping for some form of sub/notify but I wasn't seeing that.
I did see there are APIs you can get approval for that provide I believe it was hourly updates for specific categories, but I do not believe I generate enough revenue to get access to these APIs yet.
Any suggestions on best practice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
