      Taking loss after loss

Can some of the great veteran Ebayers explain to me how so many sellers can sell new items at a lost and sell oodles of a particular item. It ruins it it for those trying to make a few bucks on a transaction. I have been on Ebay for almost 28 years now and I still don't understand how these sellers can continue taking loss after loss. These type of listings are incredibly abundant across Ebay. . . . .

Flat-Rate Priority Shipping options for USPS not available for all USA addresses?

Greetings everyone, Has anyone else seen that certain customers "now" don't have the option for flat rate USPS Priority packages from eBay shipping? I only say "now" because I've been selling on eBay for well over a decade, and I just recently started seeing this pop up around 40% of the time now. The problem is, that its not economical for me to send my products for anything but the flat rate USPS Priority, and what am i supposed to do with the customers that don't have that available for them? I don't mark up my products very much, and because of this, I deleted half of my products that I sell from my eBay store, because it's hit or miss on whether I'll be able to ship them economically. ( i suppose i could cancel the orders that I couldn't send that way, just kind of think that's a rotten deal for my customers though) Any ideas? explanations of why those options are only available now to certain people? Help!!?

Anyone else struggling with the USPS Ground Advantage changes for lightweight packages (4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, and 16 oz)?

We sell in the eBay Motors Parts & Accessories category and offer free shipping on all orders. On top of that, eBay requires free returns, which means we're also paying return shipping when buyers return an item for virtually any reason. Now, with the USPS Ground Advantage pricing changes, especially for the rural ZIP codes, it has become extremely difficult to price items competitively. For those of you offering free shipping, how are you adjusting your pricing? Are you increasing prices across the board, absorbing the cost, switching carriers, or changing your shipping strategy? With shipping costs continuing to rise while buyers still expect free shipping and free returns, it's becoming harder to stay profitable on lower-priced items. I'd really like to hear what other sellers are doing. Any ideas or strategies that have worked for you?

USPS now rejecting eBay screenshots as proof for insurance claims

I ship via USPS and they typically lose 1-2 of my packages a year. Previously, I've had no issues submitting USPS insurance claims with a screenshot of the eBay order details page showing the sale price of the item and the refund I've given the buyer. I recently submitted another claim for a lost package with the same screenshot of the transaction but it was rejected. I submitted an appeal, providing a few more eBay screenshots showing additional views and more details of the transaction, and that appeal was rejected as well. USPS gave the same reason when rejecting both my original submission and first appeal, providing no other information than this: > Insufficient Evidence of Value. Reference Domestic Mail Manual section 609.3.2 -- The amount claimed must be supported by acceptable proof of value such as a dated sales receipt, money order, credit card statement, a copy of the front and back of a cancelled check or proof of completed Internet payment transaction, paid invoice or bill of sale, or statement of value from a reputable dealer. For Internet transactions conducted through a Web-based payment network that offers payment services through a stored value account, provide a computer printout of the online transaction identifying the purchaser and seller, price paid, date of transaction, description of item purchased, and assurance that the transaction status is completed. The printout must clearly identify the Web-based payment network provider through which the Internet transaction was conducted. I'm wondering if they changed their policy and now want sellers to provide proof of their purchase price of the item rather than the sale price, and will only cover that amount. Has anyone here submitted a USPS claim recently and either had the same experience or managed to get it approved?

Ebay Standard Envelope Needs To Be Fixed!!! Please!!!

We came to ebay when they started Ebay Standard Envelope for the great opportunity to sell low-end sports cards.  It's been great and has allowed us to grow our business.   However, the lack of consistent scanning of the envelopes from USPS causes so many issues.   Having a tracking number to start makes the buyer feel as though they should see progress and they can keep track of their order.   However, not all buyers understand that USPS doesn't scan everything, so they expect movement.  So when there is no movement, they get paranoid.  They message us, accusing us of not shipping the item.   Then as soon as they are able to, they open a case.  As sellers, if we allow them to "ask ebay to step in" we get penalized for that, so we just refund them right away, because that's what any good seller would do.  Now I'm out the money.     So then I file an insurance claim and get my money back.  All of this can be avoided if one of two things occurred: 1. USPS scans the envelopes properly and tracking worked (I also get a ton where it says delivered but the buyer says they never got it) 2. Buyers aren't allowed to open cases for at least a month after the item was shipped.  I know that seems like a long time, but 99% of the time, buyers get the cards AFTER the case has been opened and closed.   The amount of admin work for sellers and ebay on this is ridiculous and can all be avoided.  I sometimes feel like doing stamps with no tracking would be better.

Media Mail offered on items listed with only USPS Ground Shipping

On recent orders of items that were listed for USPS Ground Advantage shipping, somehow the buyer was offered and selected Media Mail. When I filter my listings for Ground Advantage shipping poliocy, these items appears as they should. However, when I go to the listing, it shows Media Mail as the shipping option. This is a recent problem. Anyone else experiencing this issue. As always, it's extremely difficult to contact Ebay about the problem.
