Subject: 11-year account (8k+ sales) Below Standard due to 14 Time Away defects – Advice on appeal?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from experienced sellers and community managers regarding a sudden defect spike on a long-standing account. Account Background: Account Age: 11+ years Lifetime Sales: 8,000+ completed transactions Current Evaluation Window (12 months): 477 sales Defects: 14 (Defect Rate: 2.94%) Current Status: Below Standard What Happened: After taking a 2-month break and putting my store on Time Away, the vacation period expired. Unfortunately, I failed to track the exact reactivation date and was physically unable to process incoming orders for a couple of days right after reopening. During this short window, 14 orders came in. Unable to ship them within my handling time, I made the mistake of cancelling them and selected "Out of Stock" as the reason. In reality, all items were physically in stock—I just could not process them at that exact moment. Current Situation: All buyers received an immediate 100% refund, and there are currently 0 open cases or unresolved disputes. This was a one-time operational oversight following a 1-month absence, not a pattern of poor service or selling items I don't own. Given my 11-year track record and over 8,000 successful sales on eBay, what would be the most effective way to present this to eBay support or request a manual review/probationary limit? Has anyone successfully appealed a similar restriction with a strong account history? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Best regards, Galyna

Sorry everyone. Ebay says death is not a reason to remove a defect.

So I have been on ebay since 1998 . Believe it or not, I haven't had many emergencies while working on ebay. I have been top rated plus for a while too. One rule is you have to ship within 24 business hours. Well I finally had an emergency and I had to put my dog down. So all my pieces I had to mail didn't go out in 24 hours, but the next day. I called ebay to tell them that my pup was put down and if they could kindly help me in removing the defects. Exact words: "A dog's passing is not a reason you can use to take off a defect" I asked if it really said that in the rules. They said yes. I said, what about a person. They then said, "Any emergency will have to be looked over and discussed." Then I said, we didn't even discuss the passing of my dog. Then he said, you cannot use that. I then of course asked for a supervisor and got the same answer I always get. "We are very busy, there is none available. I can have someone call you back." Any of you who have been on ebay as long as me know, you never get a call back and this is a way just to get you off the phone. So I am not posting this to get ebay to take care of it, cause they won't. I am posting this so all of you know to be careful because if you have an emergency at all, including death; ebay doesn't care about you or your family. They only care about the money. So if you have a loved one or pet that is declining, make sure you put things into place to protect yourself on this platform. Also here is a pick of my poor pup:

"Buyer wants to shop more."? Ohhh, eBay. Such a comedian these days. Wow.

Um, yea.  Oh, hey there lil' seller.  My buyer wants to shop a little more, umm, k?  Only 7 days or so.  OK, thanks Seller.   - the worlds BIGGEST marketplace even the way it's written says 'eBay snotty'. "Buyer wants to shop morrrrre". OK there, eBay. Wow   Buyer won an auction.  Apparently some 'beta' program that who/when/why/how guy, buyer, scammer was opted into has reared it's ugly head again and I'm the lucky seller this time around?  Yea baby.   Can someone please enlighten me on this.  Small sale, but wow eBay, wow.  Just more stand up comedy from the 'world's largest marketplace'.  Unreal.     This is the 2nd time I've seen this.  First time around, the buyer didn't pay (yep, after 7 days).  Had to re-auction the item and it sold for over 25% less - just a mere ~$45 ish loss 15 days later.  Oh, and yea - unable to leave the a buyer negative feedback - that's right.     Someone has got to start getting this stuff out on X or find a fun, creative way to have a good time with this comical nonsense.  Borderline criminal.. definitely disrespectful, yet again.   Please, can someone please enlighten me?  Perhaps, not with the token corporate pompom's?  Day after day, after day...  selling on here just keeps getting more and more bizarre.     Buyer wants to shop more lol.  Wow.

      Seller is away from home.

I bought an Xbox Series S and expected it within October 2-8th (it's currently the 30th of September) and the seller just infor me that he won't be able to ship it for at least 2 weeks because he is on vacation/out of the house. Is there anything I can do? Are there rules against something like this?  (Sorry is this post is worded weird)

Final straw:   Mailed a box 12x21x12 25lbs   Was charged $22.75   Ebay emailed an adjustment the dimensions were adjusted to:   Mailed box 12x24x12 25lbs   An additional $23.00 was added to the cost.   No, the dimensions were not incorrect, verified by UPS Store before they accepted it.   I can't dispute, I can't find a human to speak to.   Don't feel like typing the list of other issues since Ebay was curtained by India.   Nothing I can do about it.   Done.

Was i denied from being able to sell live?

I remember reading that live is till in beta but it seems like more people are selling on here than on what not., youtube, facebook. was i denied cause i took two months off social media after my mother passed? If i could vet people to be able to sell live I would look ar Most made in 90 days and imaging what could happen when you didn't have to wait for an auction to finish or someone to buy the item instantly. I just recently started using line internet again within the past week and I was excited the ebay live could potentially really come in handy god forbid i were to fall into money issue like i currently am and i don't know if it'll be fixed or even taken care of as a grading company ruined am card ment for an emergency mortgage  @ebayliveauctions@ebay.com   I attempted to use youtube but even though i have either 2 or 3 things currently in my store with the ability to take my  sales ad personality live I think I could make my 90 day max within 2 weeks. I have never had a bad review in fact the most recent one was from a refund I allowed because while i wasn't on ebay it still never made it for some reason. and i give you guys full permission to check what i asked him and how i took care if it myself because whether something happened to the label or it just got lost I inquired about his favorite NFL team and I didnt even count how many cards I sent. I just wanted him to trust me as a seller hopefully do business again. But now that your allowing people to basically turn this site into whatnot I would like the opportunity to make the same sales and same money as fast as the many you've allowed. You guys gave me something to help with bills while my mom was stuck in a hospital bed. Which I really appreciated but it still came down to my store. about me. shipping costs and no I feel held back and I see what happens on whatnot and oi do not want to sell there. I answered the questions on thursday and was told every time i looked yesterday it said I would know by today if i would be allowed to sell live by today. Is the lack of an answer a no? Well goodness cant even get a question to ebay about it. interesting as I am not really confident this will be answered in a public forum.as  I can only imagine the similar questions i'm sorry I read the bold black letters that said NEW MESSAGE and was hoping I would actually hear from one of the people who insures it runs as smooth as it can. I suppose I will have to call for an actual answer but i can almost guarantee customer service what ever number I attempt to not talk to them as I have no current issues with buyers or sellers. I just am extremely curious if i have been denied and if there's anything i can do to help make changes so this doesnt become what not that is a very dangerous app for teenagers and parents who trust their kids to make smart decisions Besides trying to build a fake social experience on Facebook, or X, I mean I feel like if anything my idea  would be simply charging small amounts of made sales like has been done before give sellers a small questions to ask see how different people would find the best way it worked for them  would have worked and at the end of their 7 days any person who bought from that seller was given a survey. with out a username attached so they would hopefully be honest about how well or not it worked. If they ever felt uncomfortable or in danger and finally if they purchased something did it arrive in a timely manner and worked how they were told it would. Or was it weird ordering it right in front of them and every other person in that live sale. I had taken all my cards out assuming I would have been able to sell live all day. I was excited to meet new people. enjoy conversations and hopefully be able to sell them a card of a player they really wanted.  I sense some one is going to read this. disagree and attempt to validate what they feel should happen. that's why each show would be different and the moment something can be clipped from any show that is inappropriate they lose the ability until an apology is accepted. but also being a live show with adults talking and making deals I don't believe you can rule out the occasional foul language but its all about how and what words were used. maybe tomorrow Ill be able to try it cause i tried youtube and my goodness i offered a buy one card get one free and no one came. I have a sinking feeling ill be using whatnot ny Monday and that's actually upsetting I feel like im not being offered similar opportunities because I don't care who follows ke I care about being a humble helpful person to someone who needs it. I can already see ebay is aiming to become whatnot 2.0 and as old as this site is that's verity sad but I wish the Live shows the best of luck and thy go as long as possible before you have to deal with charge backs, uncomfortable situations and im honestly trying to warn the people in change of this experiment that people will be doxxed and swatted because like whatnot buyers will learn to push buttons and sellers will learn the stress is unnecessary. For some reason you saw an opportunity to make more money and letting buyers run the live shows not the sellers. This will be an interesting forte back to one of the worst sites on the internet. and you're trying to win = some kind of race against them it seems. If i had someone on here to bet against looking at today being the 16th if people haven't been Doxed, taken advantage of by someone not paying and Swatting is happening through the whole month of october. I hope Im wrong but you see it every day in schools, on social media platforms, twitch, and that's not who you guys are. Ive said all i can and i cant wait to be tortured by the pre teens kids  parents give them internet and enough money to act like they belong there. I may still want to sell certain more expensive older or rarer cards on here. But i still believe youre opening pandoras box considering how much or a respected buying and selling Website you always were. I am actually curious if a new employee who doesnt belong in their position made this happen even id they faced backlash from within. And if it end up anywhere close to as bad as whatnot The television and news websites will not be any kind of forgiving. I'm sorry this decision was made to this site. I hope the best possible out comes keep the bad in the dark. Best of luck thinking it wont turn into whatnot. I just cant see it not happening. If it happens to turn anything like whatnot I'm going to begin preparing a good sign on for news channels to use for the story. I hope im 100% wrong and you can let me attempt a live show and if i fail miserably what not it is. But i've seen sellers un happy with their sales and they begin to crash out and threaten not only to end their stream but without a refund as they will delete the account attached to their show but be back the next day ready to repeat the process I used to use it to buy shoes and honestly being a seller sounds like it wouldn't be a smidgen of fun reading the chat who tell you what to sell, that they will pay, and once its over you're just losing money every item, they do it so they get deals. I saw it before and Sports cards are going the same rout sneakers did after the pandemic. Online business isn't a fun palace when the sellers and buyers can push the others buttons. i've caught scams and proudly been blocked from the scammers i caught.     Willyburt

eBay started my Bead Biz over 20 years ago, came back after years of illness and oh my, the changes

Just cruising around various eBay links today and found this one and figured I’d post about my eBay experience over the years.   20+ years ago I quit corporate and set out to start my own business even though I had no idea what to do or how to go about it.  The only thing I had going for me was my love of writing and research. I also enjoyed interacting and listening to people-little did I know these very skills would be what I needed to get a great start in a business, even though I had no idea of what it was going to be.   i researched and read and one day I came across an article in the Wall Street Journal about a woman that helped her disabled moms bead making business a success selling on eBay; and another story about the success of an eBay business resulted in adding a substantial addition to their house.   I continued researching and found a commonality in each story-No One was telling you how to get started, just their success story.   abd then my research skills had to kick in. I imported from China, Japan and finally happened on an overstock site selling plastic letter beads, you know the square ones with black letters, for $0.10 / 250 pack.   I figured why not, drove two hours to the business selling the items; it was a small toy distributor called Giraffe Craft and they were going out of business.   i had no idea how to list, take pictures or anything associated with online selling; but one I figured out the basics I was shocked at how fast these packs of beads were selling.  I started listing them as 500/bag and then people started bidding up to $15-20 for 1 bag.   i bought out his remaining letter bead inventory, and started buying some other beads and Fido clay items.  customers were requesting all sorts of beads and I didn’t have a clue. Giraffe Craft guy didn’t have them, but he did me one better even though he realized once I entered the Bead World in NYC I would never be back and he was right.   After exposure to these bead importing companies and suppliers I knew I had found the business I’d been searching for.    Knew nothing. My customers would make requests, I would go to my suppliers and they would explain what I needed for the customer requests. I received the best advice, education and insight from the best.   Customers loyally returned and the more I listed on eBay the more I sold. Little did I know that it just so happened that I was selling some of the best quality beads available and one customers realized that they just asked for more.   eBay grew my business so big that customers then requested I create my own website as it would be easier for them to shop from-they didn’t disappoint.   A disabling car accident took its toll and I had to close shop for a while.   So many changes happened during that time and even listing and selling on eBay is very, very different.  I don’t remember ever having to pay to promote my items, but it seems now no promotions, no views.   I am forever grateful that eBay, in a way, gave me my start in business and online selling skills.  I’ll keep listing and trying to figure out these promotional fees, but I must admit it’s slow going.

Arctic Temps mixed w/ Gulf Coast Moisture - Expect travel/delivery impacts next week!

I'm in the Houston area, but this likely applies for the entire southern US and along the Gulf Coast.   Houston is forecast to receive freezing rain and/or snow along with freezing temps lasting much of this coming week. Coastal moisture is mixing with the arctic front and will likely make for a very unpleasant week.   If you sell to anyone in the Houston area, you should expect delivery delays at least on Tues and Wed but Thur and Fri might include freezing precipitation as well, and Mon is a holiday. Keep that in mind.   If you're a seller in southeast Texas, you might want to put your account on "Time Away" even though Seller Protections are in place for certain areas.    I know that cold temps, snow & ice are the norm in much of the US (and of course Canada), but I promise you, it is not the norm in the subtropics along the Gulf Coast. We don't have snow plows. We don't have large fleets of salt trucks. We don't have chains for tires. Many of us don't have fireplaces or wood burning stoves for when the power goes out due to ice on trees or hapless grid operators (like ERCOT).   https://spacecityweather.com/winter-storm-still-on-track-to-arrive-in-houston-monday-night-major-transportation-impacts-likely/   To everyone - stay warm, stay safe and stay informed!

eBay sent money to different account

So I set up a checking account to get my payouts sent to., so on my PayPal I gave them my account and routing number for my PayPal card, debiit MasterCard, the account number for that, well payout was released and it said it was sent, well checked my PayPal it was not there so got back on eBay and checked the account, everything was correctly entered for my PayPal but it says chime card, I don't have a chime card, have not ever set one up if I did then it had to of been over 5 years ago and to my understanding that card would not be open for a account due to never used it and never set up, so I'm clueless to what the heck happened, cause that account and routing number is Fully To My PAYPAL ACCOUNT, anyone have this happen to them?? If so would you know what i am to do to fix this??? Amy kind of help would be awesome, thanks EBAY community. Please let me know. @dozerd45  @
