      W-9 in the mail?

I got a w9 form via snail mail to complete. But I don’t trust sending my personal info as I live in an area with mail theft. Can I complete it online? I haven’t sold in eBay for over 3 years and had forgotten about this account, what do I do?

I have a tax exempt number. Why won't they accept it? Anyone?

I have a store front and eBay still keeps charging my taxes. I have a tax exempt number. Why won't they accept it? Anyone?

      Ebay profiting on tax collection

Frequent topic, yet to date it has no resolution.   Ebay profits by collecting from sellers a percentage on the taxes it collects on each transaction.    Defenders say it costs this amount for Ebay to remit taxes to the various states. For example, a $1k item with $100 in taxes costs Ebay $15 (15Ùª) to account for and remit those taxes? Doubtful.  Further, there are economies of scale that being this cost way down when submitting taxes linked to many transactions to a single state.   In the end, discovery via class action litigation will show that Ebay is profiting off the taxes it collects. Worse yet, the profits increase with the the size of the transaction. Ebay's effort to collect and remit taxes does not increase with the size of the transaction.    Lastly, this form of fraud discourages transactions by punishing sellers of higher priced items that are charged higher fees on taxes collected. The Internal Revenue Service can be expected to take issue with this.    My group may even assert discriminatory claims on this basis in our federal court Complaint. If you are an Ebay seller, I encourage you to join our class action filing.

"Buyer wants to shop more."? Ohhh, eBay. Such a comedian these days. Wow.

Um, yea.  Oh, hey there lil' seller.  My buyer wants to shop a little more, umm, k?  Only 7 days or so.  OK, thanks Seller.   - the worlds BIGGEST marketplace even the way it's written says 'eBay snotty'. "Buyer wants to shop morrrrre". OK there, eBay. Wow   Buyer won an auction.  Apparently some 'beta' program that who/when/why/how guy, buyer, scammer was opted into has reared it's ugly head again and I'm the lucky seller this time around?  Yea baby.   Can someone please enlighten me on this.  Small sale, but wow eBay, wow.  Just more stand up comedy from the 'world's largest marketplace'.  Unreal.     This is the 2nd time I've seen this.  First time around, the buyer didn't pay (yep, after 7 days).  Had to re-auction the item and it sold for over 25% less - just a mere ~$45 ish loss 15 days later.  Oh, and yea - unable to leave the a buyer negative feedback - that's right.     Someone has got to start getting this stuff out on X or find a fun, creative way to have a good time with this comical nonsense.  Borderline criminal.. definitely disrespectful, yet again.   Please, can someone please enlighten me?  Perhaps, not with the token corporate pompom's?  Day after day, after day...  selling on here just keeps getting more and more bizarre.     Buyer wants to shop more lol.  Wow.

How do I increase my sales using competitive prices while NOT going broke?

When reviewing my store performance, I have noticed most of my listings have zero(0) views and clicks. My first month after opening my account, everything and anything sold quickly. It became a running joke that "Someone will buy this   fill-in-the-blank  for $5 on Ebay".   A year later and barely one sale a week. How do I get better exposure for my store and my listings without having to practically give everything away or give most of my profit to Ebay? How can I make money again on Ebay?

Final straw:   Mailed a box 12x21x12 25lbs   Was charged $22.75   Ebay emailed an adjustment the dimensions were adjusted to:   Mailed box 12x24x12 25lbs   An additional $23.00 was added to the cost.   No, the dimensions were not incorrect, verified by UPS Store before they accepted it.   I can't dispute, I can't find a human to speak to.   Don't feel like typing the list of other issues since Ebay was curtained by India.   Nothing I can do about it.   Done.

Selling on Behalf of a Nonprofit - Taxes?

My boss asked me to sell some items for her on Ebay - items we (public library) received for free and now want to sell to use as supplemental funds for our programming. It's started to become more money than I thought it would, and I was wondering if I've dug myself into an IRS hole by using an account under my name and directed to my bank account instead of setting one up using the library's info. We decided that I'd take 10% of the profits and give the rest to the library, so as of now I've made about 70 and the library's made about 700. I'm freshly 18 and have no idea how any of this works, have only ever paid taxes on the income from my job, which doesn't meet the threshold for federal income tax. What should I do?

      Help Automating eBay Sales Tracking

I currently sell a mix of old personal items and things I’ve bought specifically to resell. Right now, I’m manually entering everything (buy cost, shipping, fees, etc.) into a Google Sheet, but I’m wondering if there’s a better or more automated way to track i to make tax season easier. Ideally, I’d like to leave the buy cost column blank so I can fill it in myself later and calculate profit. Does anyone have suggestions? I’m also open to using some kind of semi-cheap software if that helps.   Also, for anyone familiar with Washington State tax rules, do I need to pay taxes on all the profit I make, including from selling personal items, or just the profit from things I bought with the intent to resell?   Thanks!
