Anyone else struggling with the USPS Ground Advantage changes for lightweight packages (4 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, and 16 oz)?

We sell in the eBay Motors Parts & Accessories category and offer free shipping on all orders. On top of that, eBay requires free returns, which means we're also paying return shipping when buyers return an item for virtually any reason. Now, with the USPS Ground Advantage pricing changes, especially for the rural ZIP codes, it has become extremely difficult to price items competitively. For those of you offering free shipping, how are you adjusting your pricing? Are you increasing prices across the board, absorbing the cost, switching carriers, or changing your shipping strategy? With shipping costs continuing to rise while buyers still expect free shipping and free returns, it's becoming harder to stay profitable on lower-priced items. I'd really like to hear what other sellers are doing. Any ideas or strategies that have worked for you?

      Overcharged for Ebay calculated Shipping

2 Lbs. 6 x6 x5 package shipped to Eagke River Alaska. Calculated price $11.84. Back charged for shipping $33.81. total shipping I was charged $45.64. I have yet to receive information from EBay regarding this situation. Anyone? I am now suspicious of a scam going on within EBay.

USPS is unifying ounce-based rates for Ground Advantage at the Commercial Pricing rate, making all shipments to non-continental destinations that weigh less than 15.99 oz cost the same as a 15.99 oz shipment. For example, a 2 oz Ground Advantage package will now cost the same as a 15.99 oz package.

      Seller shipping options hidden

I listed an item and ebay applied flat rate shipping which I didn't want. I always want to use the calculate shipping cost option. I don't remember this being the case in the past but the buttons to choose calculate cost vs flat rate are hidden. In the seller listing creation page in the shipping section you don't see the options on the page. You have to click on a small line of grey text that brings up a popup to see the options. I missed seeing it and the flat rate option was applied which cost me a good chunk of money because the item wasn't just a small item. Did this page change recently where those options are hidden?

Please help EBay doesn't want to do anything

I just started with EBay I sold 6 products this week boy I bought those products at 75.99 expensive right I put it for 84 dollars and the buyer paid for shipping with eBay selling fee they took 13.98$ one of the products' selling fees was 14 dollars meanwhile when I’m paying for a subscription every month for my store how did that make sense? Can someone explain to me how that makes sense because right now I’m not making any money at all. I call customer service over and over again. They said there was gonna help but no help at all. Can someone help me in there? What should I do? I put the product a little bit higher because I don’t want to. To make Customer pay a lot of money when come to my store as long as I can make four dollars extra I’m trying to do four dollars extra. But it’s still not working for me. I don’t know if I should cancel the buyer's order or if I should keep on call customer service to do something for me. Because this is insane I’m going crazy over?

      UPS over charging for shipment

I used eBay for my shipping label. I paid $375 plus for it. I took the part to the ups store, he weighed it, said it was under 150 lbs. I paid another $370 for packaging. It was supposed to be next day air. The buyer received it 8 days later. UPS charged me another $1922 for shipping saying it was over 150 lbs. they won’t deal with me saying it’s eBay’s shipping account. I can’t get any help from eBay on this. I have the manger from the UPS store recorded telling the account division he weighed it in store.

UPSP's new shipping fees. Not eBay's fault but....

Yesterday, shipping rates on eBay for rural locations went up by almost 80%. A package under 4 oz that used to cost me $5.50–$6.47 (which was already way too high) is now almost $9.00. I advertise free shipping and have always been willing to absorb or write off the shipping cost, but at these rates, there's simply no return on investment. I currently have 600+ items listed, with thousands more waiting to be listed. How is anyone supposed to survive these kinds of increases?

      Shipping small packages with ebay

Why was Ebay management caught with their pants down on the shipping issue? Why wasn't the eBay community given any advance notice? How did all of eBay's major competitors have shipping solutions in place and operating while eBay has none? USPS raised its shipping rates astronomically with $7.68 for a one ounce to 4 ounce package with tracking. FedEx and UPS immediately followed suit. With the ridiculous shipping expense, outrageous eBay fees, ad cost and taxes, there are no proceeds left to cover the cost of the products, labor, packaging, additional eBay store fees, etc. much less any profit. Ebay always exhorts us to charge less and less for our product offerings, but eBay has never reduced our fees in 23 years of dealing with them.

When a seller tells you a cap on shipping and then changes it down the road.

I write many messages to sellers about their shipping window and the charge they apply to each additional card, since many do not list it. So, I like to know how to bid going forward. Here is my initial exchange. My iniitial message "How much for additional shipping on each card won?" They, responded "It is an extra $1 for each card but if you request an invoice before payment, we can give you a combined shipping rate capped at $8.” So, I sent them the following message. Can you send me an invoice capped at $8. Thanks won 25 cards including the Ovy. Just lmk and thanks for everything” So, we go for a few months, and I keep bidding, and they keep increasing the shipping cost, which I question them about as I start winning more and more cards. My last exchange was this to explain my frustration. "Can you explain how you calculate your shipping? I bought 43 items with shipping of 17.99, then 55 items with shipping of 26.99. How do you charge an extra 9 dollars for 12 additional items? Just trying to figure it out, I might as well stop bidding on a lot of the low-level cards no one wants. If I get charged close to a dollar for those cards, it breaks down to .75 cents a card extra. I know you say it's a $1 item, and that is fine if you're going to do that, but if it keeps increasing, I need to know, as I have messages exchanged when I first started bidding, and the charges have been going up. If you're going to go to the 1 per item in the future, lmk as I will stop bidding on a lot of the low-end cards. Just want the guidelines, since you definitely did not charge me $ 55 for the items I won. Thanks and paid. They respond “sorry about that. Shipping is 6.99 plus + $1 For every additional card. The Shipping fee it was telling me to charge Was closer to $50 and the cost is calculated by the weight of the package and number of cards. Since I packed the orders and recognized the username I decided to give you a minor shipping discount on the one order. I Hope this is not too confusing to understand but obviously a single card in an envelope will be cheaper to ship than 50 cards in a parcel. I Hope this helps. Have a great day!” So, you recognize my userid with the hundreds of items I won from you and bid up over the months, but you forget your message to me about an $8 cap.  Just put my smallest order of 6 cards for $12 shipping. Guess they didn't remember my name when they sent that invoice, LOL.   No message was ever sent to mention they would just be giving me arbitrary discounts, or that the last order would incur the full shipping charge. People's words mean a lot to me in long-term dealings, and if you cannot honor your word or contact me to let me know about any changes, then it's not for me.
