System error allows 3 buyers for a single listed item. One canceled order left a negative review. EBAY- denied my request for removal because I canceled the order not the buyer, even though that's what I was informed to do by the EBAY help chat.

I've been an ebay member and buyer since 2005. Less than two weeks ago, I started selling my old collectibles on ebay. I made over 40 sales and everything was going smooth. Then, I listed a single item last Friday and when I woke up, I had 3 different buyers who had bought and paid for the item. I double checked the listing and it was listed as a quantity of 1. Through the help chat and articles it said I had to cancel the extra orders. I canceled two of the orders and explained what happened. One of them who is a reseller, left me negative feedback after I explained. I sent him screenshots verifying everything and asked that he take down his review. He hasn't responded and ebay denied my request for the removal of the negative feedback because I was the one who canceled the order and not the buyer, even though that's exactly what I was informed to do from the same help chat. My rating went from 100% to 83%. Any other sellers ever experience anything like this? Any suggestions beyond contacting the buyer again and requesting removal? Thanks in advance.

      Shipping small packages with ebay

Why was Ebay management caught with their pants down on the shipping issue? Why wasn't the eBay community given any advance notice? How did all of eBay's major competitors have shipping solutions in place and operating while eBay has none? USPS raised its shipping rates astronomically with $7.68 for a one ounce to 4 ounce package with tracking. FedEx and UPS immediately followed suit. With the ridiculous shipping expense, outrageous eBay fees, ad cost and taxes, there are no proceeds left to cover the cost of the products, labor, packaging, additional eBay store fees, etc. much less any profit. Ebay always exhorts us to charge less and less for our product offerings, but eBay has never reduced our fees in 23 years of dealing with them.

Now Streaming - Proven Summer Marketing tricks

Summer Marketing Tactics | eBay for Sellers Webinar Recap Last week, eBay seller Chuck Van Pelt joined eBay Product Marketing Manager Evan Swanson and ProSeller Account Manager Alex Lobos to share proven  Summer Marketing Tactics at the latest eBay for Sellers Webinar.  The webinar focused on one central idea: consistently using Seller Hub marketing tools can increase conversions and drive long-term growth. Key strategies from the session are below, and the full session is available to watch on YouTube.    Key Takeaway The strongest sellers combine multiple marketing tools as a coordinated strategy. By leveraging Seller-Initiated Offers, Sale Events, Volume Pricing, Order Discounts, Coupons, and Newsletters together, sellers can improve conversion rates, move inventory faster, increase order values, and build long-term customer loyalty. Turn Buyer Interest Into Sales Faster Seller-Initiated Offers (SIO) help you engage buyers who have already shown interest. Recent enhancements to SIOs include: Offer negotiations integrated directly into buyer messaging Ability to resend expired offers through messages Extended 96-hour counteroffer windows Centralized offer management and automation controls in Seller Hub One standout insight: buyers who message a seller are 10x more likely to convert when they receive an offer. Sellers were encouraged to respond quickly, automate offers when possible, and focus on highly engaged buyers rather than broad discounting. Keep Inventory Moving Aging inventory ties up both cash and storage space. Rather than letting products sit indefinitely, sellers should reduce stale inventory by using Sale Events and targeted promotions. Recommended tactics include: Using "Days on Site" filters to identify older inventory Running short, focused sales rather than permanent storewide discounts Creating structured discount tiers to gradually move aging inventory Seller Chuck Van Pelt summarized the philosophy simply: "Run a store, not a storage facility." Increase Average Order Value Two key tools help drive larger purchases: Volume Pricing encourages buyers to purchase multiple quantities of the same item. This works especially well for consumables, parts, and everyday essentials that buyers often reorder. Order Discounts reward buyers for adding more items to their cart by offering percentage discounts or minimum purchase promotions. Chuck shared how offering discounts on multiple CDs significantly increases cart size, with combined shipping helping offset the cost of discounts. Build Loyalty and Repeat Purchases Coupons and Store Newsletters are effective tools for staying connected with buyers after the initial sale. Sellers can use these tools to: Reward loyal customers Re-engage past buyers Promote new inventory and seasonal sales Encourage repeat purchases Coupons can also serve as a customer service tool, helping turn potentially negative experiences into positive ones by demonstrating goodwill and encouraging future business. Test, Learn, and Optimize Speakers stressed that the most effective sellers continuously test different discount levels, promotions, and marketing strategies to determine what works best for their specific category and customer. The recommendation: start experimenting now so you know which tactics drive results before entering the critical Q4 holiday selling season.

Could anyone suggest an effective Promoted Listings campaign strategy?

I currently do not have a structured advertising strategy. I am running only one campaign with all of my listings included. While I am getting impressions consistently, the sales are not improving. Could someone recommend a more effective campaign strategy? I would appreciate advice on how to organize campaigns, set ad rates, group listings, and optimize performance to improve conversions and increase sales rather than just generating impressions.

      New final value fees

Hello, I have been selling on Ebay since 2003 and have witnessed many buyer trends and in my selling. That is why I want to address the new Final Value Fees. Ebay has been a life line for me selling in my later life. My ancestors did not have this asset. However, we need to keep a grip on things with the new eBay policies especially the final value fees increasing when the new trend is for the younger generation and others to no longer have a desire to buy collectibles especially collectible that at one time where very expensive to buy originally. I feel these fees are actually over the top and excessive when one takes that into a fact. Also, I do enjoy the 250 free listing fees each month and other incentives iniated by eBay.  However, there are so many added fees that this last year I sold at a loss  or break even point on sales when we factor in the larger shipping fees for those we ship to at a distance but still want to keep competitive on our shipping cost offered to potential buyers. I feel we should be able to either adjust the shipping for mileage on an indiviual completed sale or restrict selling to those areas. If anyone has any suggestions, please respond. Thank you, a senior citizen, Diane

Bring your Promoted Listings to life with video

Online shopping is more visual than ever, and video has become one of the most powerful ways to help buyers understand what you’re selling, build confidence, and drive sales.   That’s why we’re introducing video as a new way to showcase your items in Promoted Listings with a priority strategy . Currently in beta , this marks the first step in our journey to enhance advertising on eBay with more dynamic, engaging ad formats. As we gather seller feedback and performance insights, we’ll continue refining and evolving the experience over time.   Why video matters for you    With video, buyers can see your item in action, understand key features quickly, and feel confident purchasing. You can use video to:  Stand out in search results and top placements across eBay Show how an item looks, fits, or works in real life Highlight details that photos alone can’t show Build trust so buyers can decide with confidence   How video works    You can now use short videos in Promoted Listings with a priority strategy. Videos autoplay in eligible placements across eBay. If a placement doesn’t support video, your ad will automatically show your listing image instead.   Getting started is simple:  If your listing already has a video, you can use it in your ad - no extra work needed. If not, you can upload a short video when creating or editing a campaign. You can add one video per listing, between 5-60 seconds long.   There’s no change to how you’re charged. Promoted Listings with video continue to use cost-per-click pricing.    Tips for creating great videos   You don’t need professional production. The most effective videos are often simple and authentic: Show your item within the first few seconds Keep it concise — aim for 15 seconds Focus on one key benefit or feature Design for sound-off viewing    Start simple, then refine based on performance insights.   Get started    If you’re already using the priority strategy, it’s easy to add video to your existing campaigns. You can compare performance using new video-specific metrics like view rates and video completion rate alongside your existing campaign results.   If you’re new to advertising or the priority strategy, video offers a simple way to increase visibility while keeping control of your budget. You only pay when a buyer clicks your ad, and you can start with just a few listings.   You can add video to your listings in Seller Hub or campaigns directly in the Advertising Dashboard.

Promote with confidence: A deep dive into suggested ad rate

Setting the right ad rate for your promoted listing can be challenging – too low and your listing may not get enough visibility, too high and it can impact your profit. That’s where eBay’s suggested ad rate comes in. It’s a data-driven recommendation designed to help you balance performance and cost for each of your listings, so you can promote with confidence and less guesswork.   What is the suggested ad rate?   When you promote your listing using a general strategy, your ad rate is a percentage of the item’s total sale amount that helps determine when and where your listing appears in ad placements across eBay. The suggested ad rate is a recommended percentage unique to your specific listing and current marketplace conditions. It’s designed to help you increase visibility while keeping your ad costs aligned with your goals. Because it’s calculated for each listing, it can be a helpful starting point – especially in competitive categories. It also makes advertising on eBay easy and more effective.   How is the suggested ad rate calculated?   The suggested ad rate uses AI and takes into consideration multiple signals when calculating a competitive rate, including:   Competition: Ad rates set by competitors, number of listings in the item’s category, increase or decrease in traffic for the item or category, start or stop of other promoted listings Listing attributes: Price, quantity available for sale, item details Listing quality: Photos, description, and completeness Past performance: Seasonality, days listed, quantity sold, organic impressions, ad impressions, organic clicks, ad clicks   These factors are evaluated daily, and the suggested ad rate may change over time as marketplace dynamics on eBay shift.   What happens when you use the suggested ad rate?   Increasing your ad rate can impact how often and where your listing appears. Here are three common outcomes:   I got more impressions and clicks, and the item sold. This is ideal and what we expect to happen. In fact, sellers saw over 100% more impressions when promoting their listings with a general strategy compared to non-promoted items, on average (Data from Jan 2026 – Mar 2026). I got more impressions and clicks, but the item didn’t sell. When you increase your ad rate, your promoted listing is eligible to show more often and in more places across eBay. As a result, visibility and engagement increase, but conversion may lag. This could be an opportunity to improve your listing. I didn’t get more impressions or clicks. Competition may be high, or your listing may not yet be competitive enough to get more visibility.   Applying the suggested ad rate can increase the visibility of your listing, but performance still depends on buyer demand, pricing, listing quality, and marketplace dynamics on eBay.   Take your listing from good to great   There are other factors at play when promoting your listings. To help you get the most out of suggested ad rate, consider improving the quality of your listings:   Price competitively: Use the eBay research tool or view recently sold listings. Write a relevant title: Include keywords specific to the item and organize them in a legible order. Write a helpful description: Start by generating an AI description and then add key item details. Add more photos: Add at least 4 unique, high-quality photos. Try videos too! Provide item specifics: Select the right category and include as many details as possible. Appeal to potential buyers: Allow offers, provide free shipping, and decrease handling time.   If you have questions or feedback for us,  please share them .
