System error allows 3 buyers for a single listed item. One canceled order left a negative review. EBAY- denied my request for removal because I canceled the order not the buyer, even though that's what I was informed to do by the EBAY help chat.

I've been an ebay member and buyer since 2005. Less than two weeks ago, I started selling my old collectibles on ebay. I made over 40 sales and everything was going smooth. Then, I listed a single item last Friday and when I woke up, I had 3 different buyers who had bought and paid for the item. I double checked the listing and it was listed as a quantity of 1. Through the help chat and articles it said I had to cancel the extra orders. I canceled two of the orders and explained what happened. One of them who is a reseller, left me negative feedback after I explained. I sent him screenshots verifying everything and asked that he take down his review. He hasn't responded and ebay denied my request for the removal of the negative feedback because I was the one who canceled the order and not the buyer, even though that's exactly what I was informed to do from the same help chat. My rating went from 100% to 83%. Any other sellers ever experience anything like this? Any suggestions beyond contacting the buyer again and requesting removal? Thanks in advance.

High-Value Return Fraud: 40-Lb Weight Discrepancy Ignored & Unfair Negative Balance

"I am looking for advice or insight from other sellers who have dealt with high-value return fraud. Completely unacceptable. I was left with an unfair negative balance of $6,000 because eBay completely ignored a documented 40-pound weight discrepancy on a fraudulent return. I shipped 78 lbs of high-value industrial inventory, and the buyer manipulated the return to send back a fraction of that weight. Instead of investigating actual mail fraud and grand larceny, support hid behind automated delivery scans and dismissed an official federal IC3 cybercrime report as 'having nothing to do with eBay.' Offering a tiny fee credit while sticking a seller with thousands in losses due to platform-enabled fraud is disgraceful. Has anyone else successfully fought a negative balance when carriers and tracking data proved a massive weight shortage? Any advice on next steps would be greatly appreciated."

I made two purchases from two different sellers. They said their product was delivered but NO it wasn't or I never received it. I contacted both sellers who were no help at all, so I've been trying to contact eBay. This process is totally impossible! I cannot send an email to report the seller because eBay doesn't have an option for no seller name and won't send it without one. I don't have a name because the purchases are no longer in my purchase history NOR are the sellers showing up in eBay. How do I get a record of the emails between us. How do these things just disappear? I've tried for days to contact eBay but their contact and help page is a joke. Nothing leads to nothing. I've been on an endless circle trying to get this resolved. AI doesn't help it only says the same thing repeatedly. EBAY YOU NEED TO DO BETTER! How can I report these sellers without a name or no longer in my history? I sent a call request to no avail, twice! I've sent an email they offered on their page, finally, to no avail. How do I get a hold of a human at eBay and how can I get my money back? I am so frustrated I could scream! This is unacceptable customer service! We spend our money here we should be able to talk to someone if we come across a problem that your "help" page does not cover! Again, eBay do better and send me my two refunds.

possible scammer & refusing to pay their countries custom/tariff tax to receive delivery and eBay holding my payout

Hi, I am a new seller and sold my first 2 items to one person who lives in another country than myself. These items were both “no return”/“final sale items” and shipped the two items on June 25th, 2026. The buyer messaged me complaining & upset that I filled out the customs/tariff form out truthfully and legally. He was hinting that I shouldn’t have claimed what it really was and acted like I screwed him over. Because I filled it out “incorrectly” to the buyer, he was asked to pay the tax/tariff amount before it would be delivered. He complained that the ring was “cloudy” and not good, wanting a refund… but he has not even received the item, it’s still sitting in customs and has been since July 7th. I messaged the buyer multiple times asking if he was going to get his item or let me know if he’s not going to pay for the tax. He then complained about the 2nd item which was a gemstone saying “you did not tell me about the inclusions, I want a refund.” But funny thing is that I told him there were inclusions visible right in the eBay chat and even sent more close up pictures before he purchased. But now this buyer requested a return and refund for the gemstone. And now my payout is still on hold because he won’t pay for the countries customs/tariff tax on the first item and wants a return for the second even though we spoke in detail about the inclusions and quality. He won’t respond to any of my messages and just want the money from the items I sold and shipped to the person. How can I get eBay customer service to release the hold as I did my part as a seller and gave plenty of detail of both items before he made an offer. Want to get the hold off!!!

How to protect yourself from buying fake gold on eBay?

The community has seen multiple discussions about purchasing fake gold, often at significant loss. With counterfeit items increasingly sophisticated and sellers often disappearing before detection, what steps can buyers take to protect themselves from scams? Should eBay implement stricter verification processes for sellers or offer better support for buyers who fall victims to counterfeit sales? Share your thoughts and experiences, and discuss potential solutions to this growing problem. We have purchased multiple bars of so called "gold" on Ebay. Ebay has taken in significant amounts of money in fees for these sales and then leaves the buyers high and dry when they find out the gold is fake. They changed their return policy recently, unknown to me to only 3 days to report a counterfeit piece of gold. I am wondering how many other people are having this issue? I am unable to escalate returns, report to keep others from being scammed or complete the return processes they do not have in place. I am thinking of contacting a lawyer and was wondering if anyone else would like to join? I have reports to the FBI and to USPS as the selling of counterfeit bouillon is a federal offense for anyone who profits from it.

Refund for item not as described without returning

I received an item that is not as described. I contacted the seller several times and received a reply only to my first message. I asked for a refund. If the seller wanted the item back, I asked for a prepaid label. (Based on what I read, the seller pays the return shipping if the item is not as described.) I tried to go through the process for a refund, but I was given only two choices: eBay credit when the item is dropped off (which it won't be) or credit to a credit card that is no longer valid. I deleted that credit card from my account and added a valid card. But the 'return' process still shows the old card number, and I know I can't cancel that return request and open another one. I also want to give negative feedback, but I think I should wait until this is resolved. I don't know what to do next. I can't figure out how to get eBay involved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Diane

What to do with suspicious Research activity?

I noticed some, possible questionable activity with one or a few specific items while going through the research of these items.. It wasn't a listing or seller but the possible buyer and quantity that was sold that confused and worried me a little, as most orders aren't in such size.. For reference.. mostly only in July, with a few large sales in June, but most sales were smaller amounts... ( https://www.ebay.com/sh/research?marketplace=EBAY-US&keywords=mercury+dimes+lot&dayRange=1095&endDate=1783273292470&startDate=1688665292470&categoryId=41090&offset=50&limit=50&sorting=-datelastsold&tabName=SOLD&tz=America%2FPort-au-Prince ) Thank you for your assistance and time!

Order Case Appealed but Taking Longer than 48 Hours, Automated System ZERO Help, HELP!

Hello, I submitted a case to eBay for an item that I did not receive to get a refund. I did not receive the item but the seller listed it as delivered and therefore the original case was closed. I submitted an appeal, but it's been over two weeks and have not heard back from eBay even though ebay said they should reach out to me within 48 hours. For the appeal, I reached out to the post office and they stated the item was shipped to a different address, and the packaging did not fit the dimensions of the listing on eBay. They provided tracking details with the different address and a picture of the parcel, which I included in the appeal. When I call or chat with the automated system it says that my case is closed and that I can't appeal. However, when I click on the purchase history of the item, I can see the case appeal details and that it is not closed. I'm not sure what to do. This item was over 400 dollars. I feel like I got scammed by a loophole. Is there a way for me to reach an actual agent who can look at this case? Any community help is appreciated! Hopefully eBay will help my appeal. Thank you! Need help cancelling a scammed order

Hey y'all, so I needed to order some spare ear tips for my AirPods, and I did so from a seller here in the US for $3.19, except this was last Wednesday.. The seller (which I'm now realizing shouldn't have been trusted after their 107k items sold since April 2024 and 46k+ feedback entries in the last year, with 800+ warning of what I'm about to say) marked the order as shipped with a phony USPS tracking number dating to June of last year within the same day. This essentially locked me out of a chance for cancellation. I contacted the seller last night asking for a cancellation and they responded stating that they "sent my package to the PO, and they will tell them today to ship it", I responded asking for an actual tracking number that wasn't the old one from 06/2025 and they never responded (go figure). Keep in mind that the seller marked my package as shipped and responded to me in the dead of night, almost like they're in a different time zone.. some of the negative feedback entries were also suspicious of that and suspect that the store might be falsely marked as in the US to gain buyer trust. What's the best course of action for this? I'm not sure if we can namedrop eBay sellers here on the forums or not but any mods willing to help that would be great.

reported fraudulent buyer, no response from eBay, rude customer service

After being hung up on by an eBay rep (after requesting her manager), I’m turning to this forum for any insights:    Two-ish weeks ago, a buyer requested a return on a laptop that I sold to them. The return was confirmed, and I awaited the tracking. The days passed, with zero communication from the buyer and no update to the shipment. I then reported the buyer (assuming a scam). Though it has now been 10 days since I submitted the report, but nothing from eBay.    So today, I set aside time to work through this. It took me 20 minutes to finally reach a human. I did this by using a different section of the ‘Help’ portal. As I was in a different department, I then asked to be transferred over to the correct department. Then the rep tried instructing me on the steps I needed to take via the website (that I already took). I informed her of this but she continued to interrupt. What made it worse is she seemed to not care at all about the potential fraud. Because of this I asked for a manager to better assist, which she then told me ‘no’ at first, and then after I pressed, she said ‘okay, yes. you will get a call back within 24 hours. have a great day, BYE’ and hung up on me.    To put it in simple terms - I’m defeated and in need of help. Any insights are far more helpful than eBay’s customer service has been.    Thank you, to anyone out there.
