Good day Ebay community. I have been a member of Ebay since 2004, and am a top rated seller. I do this full time, as my primary income. I want to express my objection to the upcoming changes to promoted listing attribution policy. (The changes that would attribute promotional fees regardless of whether or not the buyer clicked on the promoted listing.) I use promoted listings for most of my items, and it generates a little over half of my sales. One of the best things about it is the direct connection between the fees I pay, and the sales I generate. I can easily justify spending the promotion fee, knowing that that fee directly led to a sale I otherwise would not have made. The data generated also helps me to decide how to promote. This change would do two, very negative things. - Disconnect fees from performance. - Remove the accurate attribution data, removing my ability to make informed decisions for my business. Just as distressing as the material harm to my business, is the message that this sends to sellers. This change indicates a lack of respect for sellers, and a short term desire to squeeze us for additional fees, at the cost of the data needed to sensibly run our business. Please understand, it is NOT merely the effect on my bottom line that is most concerning here... but the signal that eBay is becoming less seller friendly and less trustworthy. I sincerely hope that eBay will reconsider the rollout of this policy before January. If not, I intend to pivot in the following ways: - Be much more selective about which items I promote, and delay promoting items until they have not sold for 30 days. - I will take some of the money I previously used for promotions and put that into a cross-listing service, and take a portion of my business to other platforms. If you feel the same, please post your thoughts to this forum, and give eBay a call to provide feedback. Thank you, TT
