From Top Rated Seller to indefinitely restricted after one delayed shipment

I've been selling on eBay for around two years, with 1,200+ sales, nearly 650 positive feedback ratings and no negative feedback . My Seller Standards were Above Standard, and shortly before this happened I qualified as a Top Rated Seller. Recently, a buyer purchased eight items in one order , all sent together in a single tracked package. I dispatched it within my handling time, but after reaching the destination country, tracking stopped updating for almost three weeks. The buyer eventually opened an Item Not Received case. With eBay's deadline approaching and the carrier unable to resolve the delay in time, I refunded the buyer rather than let the case escalate and have eBay step in. Ironically, tracking started moving again the following day, and the package was delivered shortly afterwards. My BBE dashboard subsequently showed: Seller Fault Unfulfilled: 9/292 — 3.1% Market average: 0.9% Eight of those nine transactions were the eight items from that single order and shipment. The ninth was an unrelated INR transaction that I refunded separately. This is the part I don't understand. The package was dispatched on time with tracking and the original case was INR, yet all eight items appeared as separate Seller Fault Unfulfilled transactions. Meanwhile, my regular Seller Standards remained Above Standard , with 0.00% transaction defects, 0.00% late shipments and 0.00% cases closed without seller resolution. My selling privileges were subsequently restricted due to my BBE performance. I've contacted Customer Service several times, appealed the restriction and repeatedly asked for the underlying circumstances to be reviewed. I've now been told that the appeal was denied, the decision is final, my selling privileges are restricted indefinitely, and Customer Service will not review it again. I understand that 9/292 equals 3.1%. What I don't understand is how one delayed package containing eight items could produce eight Seller Fault Unfulfilled transactions and contribute to an indefinite restriction after an otherwise very strong selling history. I've seen a few reports of sellers managing to get supposedly final restrictions reviewed or reversed, although they appear to be rare. What I'm really trying to determine now is whether there is any legitimate escalation or review route left once Customer Service and the normal appeal process have been exhausted . If anyone knows of a specific route, department or process that can actually review a decision like this, I would be extremely grateful for the information. I'm not looking to circumvent eBay's rules or simply keep submitting the same appeal — I just want to know whether there is still a genuine way to have the underlying circumstances reviewed, or whether an indefinite restriction at this stage truly means there is nothing further I can do.

Anyone else getting repeated incorrect FedEx shipping adjustments through eBay?

Repeated incorrect FedEx shipping adjustments through eBay I've been having an ongoing problem with FedEx shipping labels purchased through eBay, and I'm wondering if other sellers are experiencing the same issue. Several of my FedEx shipments have received adjustment charges after delivery. In some cases, a package that I shipped at around 12 oz was later billed as 10 lb . I carefully weigh and measure every package before purchasing the label, and I also take photos of the package on the scale and with a tape measure and even taking a photo of size and weights. The strange part is that every time I dispute the adjustment with eBay, the dispute is approved and the charge is removed . However, this keeps happening. Recently, it happened on 3 of my last 7 FedEx shipments . I understand that occasional billing errors can happen, but repeated incorrect adjustments that are later reversed are becoming very time-consuming. Has anyone else experienced this with FedEx labels purchased through eBay? How often does it happen to you? Were you able to get eBay to investigate the recurring issue instead of handling each adjustment separately? Is there anything you've done that reduced or stopped these incorrect adjustment charges? I'm not looking to complain about a single shipment. I'm trying to find out whether this is a broader issue and whether anyone has found a long-term solution.

HI there!  I'm a newer seller (6 months) and I just started getting this "alert" on my Listings page ...  Your prices are 24% higher than similar items There is an Adjust Prices link but when you click it, it just errors out. Is this new? Or is it just a canned alert because I haven't sold anything in a week??? I generally sell about 2 items per week so I think my prices are on point?? Just curious

"Buyer wants to shop more."? Ohhh, eBay. Such a comedian these days. Wow.

Um, yea.  Oh, hey there lil' seller.  My buyer wants to shop a little more, umm, k?  Only 7 days or so.  OK, thanks Seller.   - the worlds BIGGEST marketplace even the way it's written says 'eBay snotty'. "Buyer wants to shop morrrrre". OK there, eBay. Wow   Buyer won an auction.  Apparently some 'beta' program that who/when/why/how guy, buyer, scammer was opted into has reared it's ugly head again and I'm the lucky seller this time around?  Yea baby.   Can someone please enlighten me on this.  Small sale, but wow eBay, wow.  Just more stand up comedy from the 'world's largest marketplace'.  Unreal.     This is the 2nd time I've seen this.  First time around, the buyer didn't pay (yep, after 7 days).  Had to re-auction the item and it sold for over 25% less - just a mere ~$45 ish loss 15 days later.  Oh, and yea - unable to leave the a buyer negative feedback - that's right.     Someone has got to start getting this stuff out on X or find a fun, creative way to have a good time with this comical nonsense.  Borderline criminal.. definitely disrespectful, yet again.   Please, can someone please enlighten me?  Perhaps, not with the token corporate pompom's?  Day after day, after day...  selling on here just keeps getting more and more bizarre.     Buyer wants to shop more lol.  Wow.

      BBE Seller Rating?

Greetings to all eBay Community members, I have been an eBay seller since 2012. Right now I am facing a problem for which I see no solution, because every communication with eBay Seller Support only leads to more uncertainty about the future of my store. In August, shipments from the EU to the USA were suspended due to the new customs tariffs. Shipping was restored only at the end of October. Foreseeing that this situation would cause problems, I contacted our store’s eBay account manager on 25.08.2025. The communication took place via WhatsApp to the number provided by the eBay account manager. Her reply on 26.08.2025 was: “Hello good day. eBay has sent a message regarding the US tariff update, and we advise you to speak with your shipping partner to confirm any changes in shipping costs, and to continue communicating with your buyer to keep them informed about this change. If you want to exclude your item to us you can remove your listing in us site and can list your item to other sites on eBay. eBay Account Manager Janine.” The only solution offered was to delete my listings on eBay.com — what kind of joke is this from eBay? When I asked if it is possible to temporarily disable shipping to the USA, I received no answer. There was no other explanation or guidance on how to proceed. As we all know, on eBay.com sellers cannot disable the USA as a shipping destination. Therefore, buyers in the USA were able to purchase items from EU sellers, even though shipping was physically impossible. I also could not find any option to place a banner or notice to warn USA buyers that delivery to the USA was suspended. For every USA buyer who purchased an item, I manually sent an explanation that the order must be cancelled because delivery was impossible. About 50% of buyers understood and some even repurchased the item later when shipping resumed. The other 50% marked these cancellations as defects. As a result, my BBE is currently 25.1%. I have no other violations or issues that would justify shutting down my store, but I fully understand that with this percentage my store will likely be closed within the next month. Already now, even though I have not received an official notification of store restriction or closure, eBay has clearly applied a hidden limitation on my account — after receiving the BBE warning, my store traffic dropped by 80%, and of course so did sales. One eBay representative told me that I “should not have selected ‘out of stock’,” which is completely untrue — I know that this option must not be used. I always selected “buyer asked to cancel order.” I repeatedly looked for information in eBay’s internal seller forums, and several sellers reported the same issue: there was absolutely no guidance available on how to properly handle this situation. This is what the Seller Protection Program states: “We remove defects and/or late shipments when things happen that are outside of your control, such as severe weather or carrier disruptions.” This information is published by eBay itself. And this situation was completely outside my control — shipping to the USA was entirely suspended and only resumed at the end of October. Here is the official information, publicly available to everyone. Plans to halt the flow of small packages and parcels to the US | International Post Corporation Postal services in Europe suspend parcel shipments to US amid uncertainty over tariffs | Tariffs | The Guardian Why eBay chooses to ignore this, or pretend not to know, I do not understand. Please find included the links with all the relevant references, including information from the Latvian Post website. Plāno apturēt sīkpaku un paku sūtījumu plūsmu uz ASV I am highly knowledgeable in my field, my customers appreciate us, and we strive to be the best in our industry. But I am not an IT specialist or a lawyer, and I cannot be expected to know the correct legal or administrative procedures in such a situation. eBay should have provided clear guidance on how to act so that sellers could avoid exactly the problem I am now facing. I would like to hear the opinion or advice of other EU sellers, because all communication with eBay so far has led to no useful solution. All replies I receive sound something like: “It’s your fault.” Thank you for understanding, and I wish you all a successful day.

Defect as a result of refund.

Does ebay issue out of stock defects for partial refunds without a case? I got like 5 out of stock defects about 2 years ago from issuing full refunds without a case. I've lived in fear of that refund button ever since and I just used it and now I'm stressing about dealing with a defect again.

Unfair eBay Penalties that are not changing anything but lead to alienate long time sellers

I’ve been selling on eBay since 2001, and I’ve seen every incarnation of how this platform has evolved. I was even told years ago that when eBay took over processing payments, it would mean lower fees for sellers. Instead, here’s where we are now: Taxes & fees racket: eBay now collects sales tax for the government, but they still charge sellers their percentage on the tax amount itself. On top of that, they charge fees on the shipping cost. Back in the day, I was paying 9% on the final value fee. Today, when I sell a small piece of jewelry to a state like California (with high taxes), I’m effectively paying 20–25% in fees. eBay is literally profiting off of tax money that should never touch their bottom line. That’s their cost of doing business, not mine. Authentication nightmare: Anything over $500 goes through authentication. I don’t object to that in principle—it reassures buyers. But the way eBay counts every “not as described” return as a permanent defect is killing me. Out of 187 transactions, I’ve had 10 flagged. Some were outright abuse (buyers gaming the return system), and others were calls I couldn’t have prevented without $30,000 worth of lab equipment. Yet every one of those dings me. Once your defect rate passes 5%, eBay labels you “below standard” and permanently raises your fees. There’s no way to dig out. No tools, only punishment: If eBay genuinely wanted sellers to improve, they’d offer access to better testing tools, training, or even optional subscription-based lab services. Instead, they penalize us month after month with higher fees, turning it into a racket. It’s insult to injury: I already cover return shipping, I already deal with disappointed buyers, and then I get charged more for the privilege. Killing margins: I charge my clients a 30% commission. With eBay siphoning off 20–25% of the total through fees, taxes, and penalties, I’m effectively left with 15%. That means eBay is collecting as much as I am, without doing the work. This is not sustainable. It feels like eBay is abusing the very sellers who built this platform. I can’t believe I’m alone here. Has anyone else had the same experience? How are you surviving this?

Final straw:   Mailed a box 12x21x12 25lbs   Was charged $22.75   Ebay emailed an adjustment the dimensions were adjusted to:   Mailed box 12x24x12 25lbs   An additional $23.00 was added to the cost.   No, the dimensions were not incorrect, verified by UPS Store before they accepted it.   I can't dispute, I can't find a human to speak to.   Don't feel like typing the list of other issues since Ebay was curtained by India.   Nothing I can do about it.   Done.

15+ Years of Positive Selling – Store Closed Over New Regulation, Need Guidance

Hello Community, I have been selling on eBay since 2008 with a strong feedback record and quality merchandise. Unfortunately, a recent regulation in my country has created a situation that severely impacted my account. At the beginning of this year, a new law required me to register as an exporter. The registration process took about a month, and during this period my local post office started returning packages unless they were shipped through the designated exporter’s portal. Because of this, I had around 10 sales that I was forced to cancel. The only cancellation option available was “Seller out of stock,” which counted against me and badly affected my BBE (Bad Buyer Experience) metrics. eBay then gave me a chance to improve my BBE. However, since I still had unresolved issues with the post office, I placed my store on vacation for a month to avoid further problems. During this time, I could not improve my BBE because I had no sales activity. Once everything was sorted with the post office, I resumed selling and had a full month of smooth, successful transactions. Unfortunately, when eBay re-evaluated my account, it was based on the inactive month rather than my recent positive sales. As a result, my store was closed and I was informed that there is no appeal. This situation feels unfair since the cancellations were caused by new government regulations outside of my control, and my subsequent positive sales activity was not taken into account. I would like to ask: Is there any way to have my account re-evaluated based on my actual recent selling history rather than the forced downtime? Can eBay Support take into consideration that this was a regulatory issue, not poor seller performance? What steps can I take to restore my selling privileges on eBay after more than 15 years of successful selling? I greatly value the eBay community and hope there is a path forward. Any guidance from experienced sellers or eBay staff would be appreciated.
