Sold an item with a defect on the item in the listing photo and had ‘no returns’ set. Buyer reports “not like listing” and describes the exact defect I presented and claimed I had been wrong, starting a return process since that overturns the ‘no returns’ option. I provided picture evidence and reached out to support over and over, got conflicting information, also got told not to issue refund. Once I got the item and inspected it, not only did I confirm it was exactly what I’d listed, it also came back broken with proof that the buyer did not receive it with that damage. Buyer said it wasn’t their fault and demanded refund. I called support for seller protection and expressed I did NOT want to issue a refund, and the representative said the only way to raise my case for investigation and protect my funds and credit them to my account was to hit “refund buyer” button and “report buyer” button right after. Instead, that ended my ‘case’ and sent all the funds to the buyer. What did I get? Zero funds and a broken item. Repeated calls to representatives about the issue while uploading supporting documents proving my innocents and how I was a victim resulted in emails back from the “appeals team” with false information about the situation, false information about what I asked for help with, and advice on how to succeed as a seller. Seller Protection section claims that you’re protected against fraudulent buyers. Clearly, that’s wrong. Because of a fraudulent buyer, a liar of a representative into misdirection, and the absolute failure of a “support team” that eBay has, I’ve lost all of my earnings and got broken property. Do NOT trust any eBay support. Get legal help if your buyer pulls this, because eBay will just mow you over.
