      Ebay don't protect sellers

Hello everyone, Something has happened that I can't just accept and move past, so I'm sharing it here. On June 30th, 2026, I sold a JBL Cinema SB580 3.1 soundbar system on eBay. The buyer initially offered $150, which I declined, and we settled on my counteroffer of $160. I shipped the item via FedEx Home Delivery from Maryland to California, and it was delivered on July 8th, 2026. I take customer service seriously and follow up on every sale. When I received the delivery notification, I reached out to the buyer to confirm the item had arrived undamaged. I also make a point of letting customers know that even though my listings don't accept returns, I will always make an exception if an order arrives damaged or if something else goes wrong outside anyone's control. This buyer completely ignored my message. Then, on July 13th, 2026—five days after delivery—the buyer opened a return request through eBay without any prior communication, citing "item not as described." I had sent this buyer a 100% brand new, complete product, yet the return request read: "Hi, I received only the soundbar. The wireless subwoofer, remote, power accessories, and other included items are missing. The listing title and photos show a complete JBL Cinema SB580 system and the description says it is new and sealed. Since I did not receive the complete product, I'd like either the missing components sent to me or a full refund." I messaged the buyer and asked why they were claiming they hadn't received the entire order. Instead of backing down, they doubled down and sent me a photo of a small box—one I never shipped—asking how the full system could possibly have fit inside it. I told them that was not the box I sent, and I pulled up the FedEx delivery photo showing the actual package, which was nearly the size of their front door. I asked them directly: why are you trying to scam me? I also pointed out that FedEx weighed the package at 23.23 lbs. According to the official JBL Cinema SB580 spec sheet, the soundbar alone weighs 5.7 lbs (2.6 kg), the wireless subwoofer weighs 12.6 lbs (5.7 kg), and the complete retail box has a total packaging weight of 22.9 lbs (10.4 kg). How could anything be missing—especially the subwoofer—when my shipment weighed 23.23 lbs? At that point, I was furious with this dishonest person. I told them plainly that I would not accept a partial return when I had shipped the complete product, and that eBay would protect me from scammers like them. Their exact response was: "ebay will always side with the buyer, buyer protection duh." I blocked them and waited for eBay to handle the case. Today, eBay decided in the buyer's favor. They are allowing the return and refunding the buyer with my money. Why doesn't eBay look at the evidence before deciding what to do with a seller's money? I earned that money fairly by sending a complete product to someone who wanted to buy it. My guess is that the buyer already owned this system, blew out their subwoofer, and figured they could scam a seller on eBay into providing a free replacement. Is there really nothing I can do about this?

      Where is EBay’s Help????

I follow all my purchase and log tracking numbers to my email account. I did this with a recent purchase. I noticed there was no update from when he created a label to USPS. I checked back to see where the tracking information was showing, and it says still waiting on package. I requested a refund, but was told it had been shipped by EBay. I contacted the seller twice with no response. I want my money back and I’m not getting any response from the seller or EBay! I looked through his reviews and this is what he has done to several others. I want EBay to uphold their money back guarantee to me.

Triangulation scheme - how to report to eBay?

I purchased an item from a seller that was about 25% off the retail price. They provided a tracking number that didn't work. The item did show up, but it came directly from the retailer (Williams-Sonoma), which didn't make sense because that item never goes on sale After some digging, I realized that they were laundering money. In short, I purchase an item for $150 and they then purchase it for full price ($200) using stolen credit cards on the retailer's website. They don't care that they paid more than they received for the item because they have my $150 and spent $0 of their own on the item The same thing happened to me earlier this year (different seller) but I didn't realize anything shifty was going on until it happened again recently. I received the item I had purchased so technically I'm whole, but it pisses me off that they're using stolen cards to do this Is it possible to report the seller? I can't find the option anywhere on eBay

Buyer returned a lesser condition copy of the same comic book **RESOLVED**

So, I have a question. Been on here for years. This is actually the first time this has happened. I shipped a set of comics books(Secret Wars 1-12). Three weeks later, the buyer wants to return them. I'm not happy with that, but I do have a 30 day return policy. When I get the books, one of them is not the same one I shipped. It is visually different. This is the one I sent.

This is the one I got back.
It is a completely different book. The spine is cut completely differently. There are back cover and internal page discrepancies as well. I included pictures showing that the item returned was not the item I shipped. EBay agreed that the images bore that out. They refunded the buyer anyway, stating in the email they sent me that he would probably file a charge-back. So, I'm curious what my recourse on this is. I know can file an appeal, but it just says include any new material within 30 days. There is no NEW material. Its just the images I already provided, which eBay agreed showed a clear discrepancy, but they refunded the buyer anyway. I'd like to get my money back and I'd also like this buyer dealt with. I do not believe that he accidentally sent the wrong issue back when the other 11 issues from the Secret Wars set were the ones I shipped. I know. Big Ask. But a kid can dream.

High-Value Return Fraud: 40-Lb Weight Discrepancy Ignored & Unfair Negative Balance

"I am looking for advice or insight from other sellers who have dealt with high-value return fraud. Completely unacceptable. I was left with an unfair negative balance of $6,000 because eBay completely ignored a documented 40-pound weight discrepancy on a fraudulent return. I shipped 78 lbs of high-value industrial inventory, and the buyer manipulated the return to send back a fraction of that weight. Instead of investigating actual mail fraud and grand larceny, support hid behind automated delivery scans and dismissed an official federal IC3 cybercrime report as 'having nothing to do with eBay.' Offering a tiny fee credit while sticking a seller with thousands in losses due to platform-enabled fraud is disgraceful. Has anyone else successfully fought a negative balance when carriers and tracking data proved a massive weight shortage? Any advice on next steps would be greatly appreciated."

      Help and Contact Page Useless

I made two purchases from two different sellers. They said their product was delivered but NO it wasn't or I never received it. I contacted both sellers who were no help at all, so I've been trying to contact eBay. This process is totally impossible! I cannot send an email to report the seller because eBay doesn't have an option for no seller name and won't send it without one. I don't have a name because the purchases are no longer in my purchase history NOR are the sellers showing up in eBay. How do I get a record of the emails between us. How do these things just disappear? I've tried for days to contact eBay but their contact and help page is a joke. Nothing leads to nothing. I've been on an endless circle trying to get this resolved. AI doesn't help it only says the same thing repeatedly. EBAY YOU NEED TO DO BETTER! How can I report these sellers without a name or no longer in my history? I sent a call request to no avail, twice! I've sent an email they offered on their page, finally, to no avail. How do I get a hold of a human at eBay and how can I get my money back? I am so frustrated I could scream! This is unacceptable customer service! We spend our money here we should be able to talk to someone if we come across a problem that your "help" page does not cover! Again, eBay do better and send me my two refunds.

      No seller protection

I sold a wiring harness and the buyer claimed I sent him the wrong item. However, in his return request, he sent a picture holding the tag on the item which is the tag I am holding in a picture in my listing. (I don't accept returns on electrical items). I contacted eBay immediately via chat and was assured I would be protected by seller protection. Three days later I get notified they are allowing a return. I call this time. I get reassured again. During this time I see no tracking or info stating the buyer sent the item. The item shows up and ebay immediately refunds his money, plus shipping and kept all my seller fees!! I appeal. Needless to say it was declined. So what do we get protected against? Obviously not these situations!

possible scammer & refusing to pay their countries custom/tariff tax to receive delivery and eBay holding my payout

Hi, I am a new seller and sold my first 2 items to one person who lives in another country than myself. These items were both “no return”/“final sale items” and shipped the two items on June 25th, 2026. The buyer messaged me complaining & upset that I filled out the customs/tariff form out truthfully and legally. He was hinting that I shouldn’t have claimed what it really was and acted like I screwed him over. Because I filled it out “incorrectly” to the buyer, he was asked to pay the tax/tariff amount before it would be delivered. He complained that the ring was “cloudy” and not good, wanting a refund… but he has not even received the item, it’s still sitting in customs and has been since July 7th. I messaged the buyer multiple times asking if he was going to get his item or let me know if he’s not going to pay for the tax. He then complained about the 2nd item which was a gemstone saying “you did not tell me about the inclusions, I want a refund.” But funny thing is that I told him there were inclusions visible right in the eBay chat and even sent more close up pictures before he purchased. But now this buyer requested a return and refund for the gemstone. And now my payout is still on hold because he won’t pay for the countries customs/tariff tax on the first item and wants a return for the second even though we spoke in detail about the inclusions and quality. He won’t respond to any of my messages and just want the money from the items I sold and shipped to the person. How can I get eBay customer service to release the hold as I did my part as a seller and gave plenty of detail of both items before he made an offer. Want to get the hold off!!!

Need help with a fake item and denied return request

Hello, I purchased a signed album, and it turned out to be fake. I contacted the seller to inform them that the item is not authentic and that I would like to return it, but they refused. The box is still unopened. I set up a payment plan through the Klarna app, but still my first payment will be processed in 10 days. I have tried calling eBay multiple times, but the automated system would not let me speak with a representative. I need your help resolving this issue. Thank you
