      Escalation of appeal

Dear Steve, Thank you for clarifying the policy eBay is relying upon. I understand that eBay’s Money Back Guarantee policy allows an “attempted delivery” status to constitute evidence of delivery in certain circumstances. However, the same policy requires signature confirmation for orders totaling $750 or more. My order totaled $2,466.74 and was shipped through eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee program. I never signed for this package, nor did anyone accept or sign for it on my behalf. Your own review confirms that the June 29 event was only a delivery attempt and that the final tracking event states: “The customer has requested that the Postal Service redeliver this item on June 30, 2026.” You further confirmed that there has been no tracking update since. USPS accepted that redelivery request, subsequently lost the package, conducted an investigation, and ultimately confirmed in writing that it could not locate the package. USPS specifically directed me to seek a refund/replacement or pursue an insurance claim for the lost shipment. Therefore, I am asking eBay to address several specific questions: 1. What signature-confirmation evidence satisfies eBay’s requirement for successful delivery of this $2,466.74 transaction? If eBay considers the June 29 attempted delivery sufficient to deny my claim, please provide the signature confirmation or other evidence eBay is relying upon to satisfy the signature requirement applicable to an order of this value. 2. For what amount was this shipment insured? The card was authenticated, packaged, and shipped from eBay’s authentication facility. I therefore did not purchase the postage or insurance and do not have access to the mailing documentation showing the insured value. 3. Has eBay, its authentication partner, or its shipping partner filed or received an insurance claim relating to this lost package? This distinction is important. eBay is currently treating an attempted delivery as completed delivery for purposes of denying reimbursement to me, while USPS has formally concluded that it cannot locate the package and specifically identified an insurance claim as a remedy for the lost shipment. If eBay or its partner purchased insurance covering this shipment, I respectfully request clarification as to how that insurance is being handled and who is entitled to any indemnity payment resulting from the loss. The seller successfully delivered the card to eBay’s authenticator. eBay authenticated the item and subsequently shipped it to me. I immediately followed USPS procedures after the unsuccessful delivery attempt and requested redelivery. USPS then lost the package while it remained in its custody. I have now spent weeks attempting to resolve the loss of a $2,466.74 item that everyone involved acknowledges I never received. I am not asking eBay to disregard its policies. I am asking eBay to apply all of them and address the documented circumstances of this loss. Please provide: The signature-confirmation evidence relied upon for this transaction; The insured value of the shipment; Whether an insurance claim has been or will be submitted for the loss; and Escalation of my case for further review if no valid signature confirmation exists. I have provided USPS’s written documentation establishing that the package could not be located. I respectfully request that eBay address these questions directly rather than referring me back to USPS, as USPS has already completed its investigation and directed me back to the sender/shipping party. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Jack Schaffer

      Saved searches are not working

About a year ago, saved searches that I have used for over a decade stopped displaying items that they would find. I put in a couple complaints with customer support at the time, but there was never any follow up from eBay. Then in December, the searches magically started displaying again, but this only lasted for about 2 months, and it has been another 4-5 months with them not working. This is not an intermittent issue, where the issue comes and goes randomly, it is a consistent case of searches not displaying results. It is not just the eBay app, my searches do not work correctly even if I use a browser window to look at them. Since I can’t easily find the items I might want to buy, my purchases have dropped a great deal, which is good for my wallet! But I really wish there was a way for my eBay usage and purchases to go back to how it was for so many years. I was happy being able to easily find and buy items I wanted. I have seen other instances in the Community where eBay employees are able to help users, and I have plenty of specifics and/or screenshots I can provide if my issue can actually be reported to a department that can look into it.

Return Deadline Is Approaching Because My Case Can't Be Escalated

I am requesting immediate assistance because I am unable to complete or escalate my return due to what appears to be a system issue. I purchased a set of items that were significantly different from how they were described and what I was told I would receive. During our conversations, I specifically requested a particular size, and after the purchase the seller admitted they could not actually produce it. The seller stated: "The length of the black Gengar that you requested can only be produced with that height, because the printing quality would be distorted. I apologize for not clarifying that sooner." Based on the circumstances, eBay approved my return request. The official return case states: "The seller let us know they sent a return label for your item. If you haven't received it, contact the seller. Make sure to ship the item back and add the tracking details by Aug. 3. Once your item is delivered, you can expect a refund within 3 business days." However, the seller never provided any return shipping label through eBay Messages, email, or any other method. Instead, the seller directly told me: "Unfortunately, if returns are initiated, the buyer would have to pay for the shipping label." This directly contradicts what eBay has told me. The eBay Assistant states: "I see that the seller accepted your return. They're responsible for return shipping costs. You'll receive a return shipping label from either eBay or the seller in your Messages and email with all the details of your return request." The seller is refusing to provide the label while simultaneously telling eBay that one has already been sent. Because of that, my return has become stuck in an impossible situation: eBay has determined that the seller is responsible for return shipping. The seller claims they already sent a return label, but no label has ever been provided. The seller is now no longer responding to my messages. The "Ask eBay to Step In" button, which should have become available, has still not appeared. I cannot purchase my own label because that would contradict eBay's return decision and could jeopardize my reimbursement. The return deadline continues to get closer even though I have been prevented from completing the return through no fault of my own. After I started having this issue, I reviewed the seller's recent negative feedback. I found multiple buyers reporting experiences that are very similar to mine, including: Sellers claiming a return label was sent when buyers never received one. Sellers refusing to provide a return shipping label after a return was approved. Items that were significantly different from the listing or described as counterfeit or low quality. Listings stating the item shipped from California when buyers reported it actually originated in China. Sellers stopping communication once a problem was reported. One feedback comment even states: "They also did not provide a return shipping label for this purchase and I basically got stuck keeping this." Another says: "The email said they sent a return label which I have not received." These comments made me realize that my situation may not be an isolated incident. I also attempted to resolve this through the eBay Assistant. However, because the seller indicated that a label was supposedly sent, the Assistant only tells me to check for the label and does not provide any way to escalate the case despite the fact that no label exists. In addition, I have been unable to receive callback phone calls from eBay. Although support indicates they have attempted to call me, my phone never rings, leaving me unable to resolve this issue by telephone. At this point, I have done everything required of me as the buyer. I am being prevented from returning the item because the seller has not fulfilled their obligation to provide the return shipping label, while the system also prevents me from asking eBay to step in. I respectfully request that eBay manually review this case, verify that no return shipping label has actually been provided, confirm that the seller is responsible for return shipping, protect my buyer rights, and ensure that I receive my refund without being penalized because of a system or process failure that is outside of my control.

Scam alert. Complaint Regarding Misrepresented Coin Lot Sold by *** *** *** Live Auction on eBay

On June 16, 2026, I participated in a live auction conducted by *** *** *** on eBay and purchased more than $1,600 worth of coins. One of the items I purchased was advertised as a set of Chinese gold coins spanning the years 2003 through 2007. After receiving the coins, I sought professional evaluations to verify their value. The first dealer informed me that the set was worth approximately $500, significantly less than the amount I paid. Concerned by this assessment, I obtained opinions from two additional coin professionals, and both independently arrived at similar valuations. During one of these evaluations, a dealer also noted that the display case shown and described during the auction did not accurately match the coins contained within it. Upon closer inspection and magnification, it appeared that all of the coins in the set were dated 2007, contrary to the representation that the collection consisted of coins from multiple years between 2003 and 2007. I contacted eBay regarding my concerns and was advised that I first needed to communicate directly with the seller before eBay could review the matter. I promptly attempted to resolve the issue with the seller. While the seller initially responded, the communication was delayed and ultimately ceased altogether without any meaningful resolution being offered. Based on the facts outlined above, I believe this item was materially misrepresented during the live auction. I am requesting that eBay thoroughly investigate this transaction, review the auction recording and product description, and determine whether the seller has engaged in a pattern of misleading representations. I am also requesting appropriate corrective action, including a refund and any enforcement measures eBay deems necessary to protect future buyers. As a collector and customer, I believe marketplace integrity depends on accurate product descriptions and honest representations. I hope eBay will fully review this matter and take the appropriate steps to ensure that other buyers do not experience similar issues.

Completed return case involving item substitution (graded collectible) – request for moderator guidance

I am posting for guidance from experienced sellers and eBay moderators regarding a completed return case involving suspected item substitution. I sold a graded Pokémon card (SGC 7 holographic Dark Charizard) via auction. The buyer completed payment and the item was shipped securely. The buyer later opened a return request claiming the item arrived damaged. I accepted the return in good faith and followed eBay’s return process. However, the item returned was not the original item shipped. Instead, I received a sealed stack of low-value Energy cards. The original graded card was not included in the return. Despite this discrepancy, the buyer received a refund. I submitted evidence during the case and again during appeal. The appeal was denied and the case is now closed. At this stage, I am not asking for the decision to be reversed through this forum. I am seeking clarification on escalation pathways and policy handling for completed return cases involving item substitution. Specifically: What escalation path exists for completed cases involving returned-item mismatch or substitution? What documentation is typically required for review of serialized/graded collectibles? Is there a specific fraud escalation process for return substitution cases? I am trying to understand whether there are additional steps available beyond the standard appeal process in cases like this.

Case Appealed but No Response from eBay, Automated System Zero Help

Hello, I submitted a case to eBay for an item that I did not receive to get a refund. I did not receive the item but the seller listed it as delivered and therefore the original case was closed. I submitted an appeal, but it's been over two weeks and have not heard back from eBay even though ebay said they should reach out to me within 48 hours. For the appeal, I reached out to the post office and they stated the item was shipped to a different address, and the packaging did not fit the dimensions of the listing on eBay. They provided tracking details with the different address and a picture of the parcel, which I included in the appeal. When I call or chat with the automated system it says that my case is closed and that I can't appeal. However, when I click on the purchase history of the item, I can see the case appeal details and that it is not closed. I'm not sure what to do. This item was over 400 dollars. I feel like I got scammed by a loophole. Is there a way for me to reach an actual agent who can look at this case? Any community help is appreciated! Hopefully eBay will help my appeal. Thank you! Massive heart attack and rude seller

Looking for some advice on refund refusal that ebay has agreed with. Texted with seller telling them we were in the process of moving from NC to PA and WASN’T SURE WHEN I COULD PICK UP THE TABLE. A polite response was received, saying no problem… so I paid that day, April 24, $240. Two days later, my husband had a massive heart attack needing three stents. To say the moving process slowed down is an understatement. (I did not share this with the seller, but I did share it with eBay to open my case. At least a week before 30 days the seller started asking when I’d be picking it up. After much ado, I agreed to the 30th day as now they weren’t willing to go over that? A couple of days before the 30th day they texted again to confirm pick up. Within this text they OFFERED TO CANCEL. I loved the table so stupidly I began requesting extensions to which I was met with very, VERY RUDE REPLIES. I ASKED TO CANCEL AND WAS REFUSED When relaying this to eBay customer service to intervene on my behalf, I was assured, multiple times assured, that even if they didn’t refund me, not to worry because eBay would. Turns out, my case doesn’t meet eBay’s refund qualifications?? Seriously, a massive heart attack coupled with a very rude seller, and that doesn’t qualify with extenuating circumstances??? They won’t even let me appeal? I would love to hear from anyone directly as I am very disappointed with this outcome.

Navigating Online Marketplaces: Sharing Experiences and Solutions

Many of us have turned to online marketplaces like eBay for purchasing unique or hard-to-find items. However, experiences can vary widely, and encountering fraudulent sellers is unfortunately not uncommon. Imagine you purchased a waxed jacket from a seller who claimed it was a Barbour brand , but upon receiving it, realized it was a cheap knockoff . After trying to resolve this through eBay's resolution center, you find yourself in a situation where the platform denies your claim, especially after you sought help from your credit card company. Discussion Points: Have you ever faced a similar situation when purchasing items online? How did you handle it? What steps do you believe should be taken when you receive a counterfeit item? Should the approach differ between contacting the online platform and your credit card company? What improvements would you suggest for online marketplaces to better handle such disputes? How can buyers protect themselves from scams and ensure that the items they purchase are authentic? Share your stories and advice, and let’s collectively brainstorm ways to enhance our online shopping experiences!

Terrible eBay Customer Service and Guidance

Hello Everyone,   This is my first time posting here (I believe). I’m reaching out because I’m struggling to resolve an issue with eBay and don’t know where else to turn. I’m exhausted from repeatedly calling Customer Service and having to explain my situation over and over, so I’m sharing it here in hopes that someone from eBay will see it and reach out to help.   Here’s a summary of what happened: I sold two sets of sealed Pokémon Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs) to a buyer. After delivery, the buyer opened a case claiming the packs inside were resealed and requested a return. As a trading card seller on eBay for 18 years, I’ve never sold resealed items, so I was certain the buyer was attempting to scam me. I immediately contacted eBay for guidance on how to handle the case (whether to accept the return, refuse it, etc.). The eBay Customer Service representative advised me to accept the return, as a forced return would happen regardless. They also instructed me to inspect the items upon receipt and report any issues. In the meantime, the buyer left me negative feedback—great, right? 😫   The buyer returned the boxes, and upon inspection, I found that both boxes had been opened, all the packs were torn open, and any valuable cards (if there were any) were missing. I contacted eBay again to ask for next steps. This time, a different CS representative told me to refund the buyer, wait 24 hours, and then call back to appeal the return. I followed these instructions.   Due to work commitments, I couldn’t call back immediately but reached out within 2-3 days. When I explained the situation to another CS agent, they informed me that the previous agent should not have advised me to issue the refund, as doing so essentially closed the case. I asked them to review the call recording because I had explicitly confirmed with the previous agent whether I should issue the refund, and they had assured me twice that I should. The new agent said they would escalate the issue to leadership and promised to get back to me by Monday (this was on a Thursday). Monday came and went with no response. I called again on Tuesday for an update, and another agent told me it hadn’t been 5-7 business days yet and to give the previous agent more time.   Two more days passed, and I received an email from eBay stating they had tried to call me but the phone number on file was incorrect. I immediately called eBay to clarify. The agent confirmed that someone had attempted to call me but couldn’t reach me. I asked them to verify the phone number they used, and it was correct—so I’m not sure why the call didn’t go through. The agent tried to contact the person handling my case but was unsuccessful.   It’s now been another 48 hours, and I still haven’t received a call, message, or any follow-up. I’m left with negative feedback on my account and no resolution in sight. The entire process has been incredibly frustrating, and navigating eBay’s customer service has been a nightmare. Does anyone have advice on how to proceed?
