Search Manipulation Policy

I am wondering if anyone else received an email stating "Please understand that you used the keywords "AutographedNo" in the title or description of the listing."

eBay pulled my listings on the final day of their auction. But I didn't use those terms in my titles or descriptions.

Apparently, in the Item Specifics portion of your listings, selecting "no" next to autographed for sports cards that are not autographed is a problem.

I was instructed to relist the items without that selected and then "they would be fine".

I lost time and money, and they refunded me 79 cents for the one item being "promoted"

The really bizarre thing is that they said I don't need to update any of my other cards that have the same item specs.

What activity didn't follow the policy

Please understand that you used the keywords "AutographedNo" in the title or description of the listing. Keywords are often used for the purpose of diverting members to a listing, which is not permitted. Also, usage of different keywords in the title results in a poor search experience. Keywords can be defined as brand names, celebrity names, designer names, specific products, or other much searched words, which are unrelated with the actual item for sale. You can relist your item by removing the unrelated keywords from your listing.

Please review your current listings to ensure they follow our policy. Any future listings will need to follow our policy too.

@phschw39 I agree with @carlqsportscards That it's a good idea to post this on the tech issues board for two reasons... more sellers will see it and it helps to consolidate the reports of the problem.

I am going to tag community staff too to make sure that this is brought to eBay's attention because it's not fair to sellers.

I am a comic book seller as you can tell by my user ID and I often select the NO next to autograph.

Hey @comics-scifi-collectibles thanks for bringing this to our attention. From what has been described, neither the title nor the description mentioned "autograph" at all, and it was only mentioned in the Item Specifics section. For that reason, this item shouldn't have been flagged for having "autograph" in it. Item specifics are important and we want to encourage you to keep filling out any that are pertinent to your item. This includes selecting yes or no on the "autographed" entry.

@phschw39 I would encourage you to relist that card, if you haven't already, and keep filling in the details like you always have. We believe this may have been a one-off incident and we'll get it reported to the proper team.
