Help contacting eBay about potential fraudulent seller.
I bought a sports card for $1,500 recently. After I purchased I see the seller has zero feedback and zero sales and account created January 2026. Due to the amount of money the card must go through authentication. Needless to say, the card has not shipped and the seller has t responded to my requests for tracking.
what can I do to get my money back?
does eBay even care about stuff like this?

·7 months agoeBay shows an estimated delivery date for every purchase. Check your email confirmation and look at the latest date in the estimated delivery window. If your item doesn't arrive by that date you can file a non-receipt claim.

OP7 months agoThanks. It’s been a week and it hasn’t shipped and the “seller†has ignored all of my messages. What will eBay do to the seller? It’s a new account with no feedback, will the seller actually get money from eBay?

·7 months agoAs stated by the other responder, you are well protected by the Money Back Guarantee. If you've not yet read it, now would be a good time.
There was an estimated delivery date seen in the listing. Find that date in your Purchase History. Once that date has passed, you are free to open an item not received case.
There is no reason or need to message the seller. Just follow the procedure for handling an INR case with eBay.

OP7 months agoThanks I will do that. Since my last message, the specific (numbered) card is now listed 2 more times, 2 separate listings, same pictures. Another new seller with no sales, no feedback. Does eBay do anything to stop or prevent this? How can I report it? I assume this guy keeps getting the money.

If the seller doesn't ship it that's fine, file an INR
If he ships an empty envelope don't file an INR, file an SNAD and send him back the same.
If he ships an empty envelope to a different address in your Zip Code and it shows delivered, do the same, file an SNAD and ship the same back to him.
Since this was a newly registered seller I doubt that he has gotten your money yet, he might have to wait for 3 to 4 weeks and proof that it was delivered.
It's hard to get eBay to give you a refund when an item shows delivered but you got a cheap item or no item at all. I've seen buyers file INRs when they got an empty envelope and not get a refund because it showed as delivered.
Use the return shipping label that eBay will give you.
The envelope he should ship you the item in should also have Signature required because of the value of the item.

OP7 months agoThank you again for all your advice. Luckily the card would need to go to authentication first, so it won’t be an empty envelope. I’m just mad and want something done. I’m part at myself for not checking the reputation of the seller first, part upset with the scammers, and part upset with eBay for not giving me a way to properly alert them of this behavior. I’m not worried (yet) about not getting my money back, but want this to stop.

·7 months agoA lot of new sellers jump in and try selling expensive items before finding out it'll be awhile before they get their money.
Once they find out, they don't want to ship their item.

A day after the estimated delivery date, open an item not received case.
