Ebay advertising rates are they asking for too much by their suggestions ?
Summary: lonnieontap is facing issues with eBay suggesting advertising rates for their Fine Art Paintings and handmade cases, which are being unfairly compared to non-appraised and imported items, respectively. They have tried suggesting eBay create separate categories for appraised and non-appraised paintings to ensure fair comparisons. sunnylemonade advised experimenting with different advertising rates and using eBay's research tools to gain insights. lonnieontap noted that lowering rates often leads to reduced visibility, and they are exploring different strategies to improve their listings.
I have 2 main items for sale on ebay. One is my collection of Fine Art Paintings, and the other is a custom, handmade case (12 sizes). Each of which originates in the USA. I have trouble with eBay suggesting ad rates when they are comparing my paintings against amateur paintings that they put on for a very low cost, which I doubt are even appraised. My cases are being compared against cheap cases imported from various Asian countries. I have made suggestions to eBay a number of times when they want to raise my advertising rate upward and lower my prices to compete with the others. Any suggestions on how to deal with them?

·2 weeks agoTry to list some paintings with a lower rate and then another with a higher advertising rate to test it for your exact items. Just ignore the ebay suggestions as everyones listings are different so they just give more generic information. Also, you can look I can ship it out tomorrow if you are interested. he research products tab then look at. the show sales trends and switch to active. You will then see how many other sellers in that category are using. promoted listings to find out what others are doing.

OP2 weeks ago · EditedThanks for your input. As of now, when I lower my rates....no matter the item price, my viewing count drops like a sinker. I am playing with adjustments of my rates. My lowest appraised painting is $ 195 w /professional framing, with an ad rate of 6%. My highest painting at this time is $4900. (Appraised) with frame. I have made suggestions to eBay because of the type of paintings being sold...there comparison are irrelevant, and they need to open 2 Categories (Non-appraised and Appraised) to properly identify for any form of comparison.; Not sure if they will take note to this suggestion, but it's worth a try. I have other paintings worth over $ 10 K...but eBay is not the place for those.
Thank you so much for your input
