Winter Storm - Change from 1 to 2 business days handling time...
Just a question.....I have the Top Rated Seller Plus discount.....because of my handling of 1 business day/30 day free returns....I am going to be in the path of this winter storm. It will not start until late Saturday night/early Sunday morning where I live. If I change from 1 day to 2 business days of handling time on the weekend so I can ship my products that sell on the weekend on Tuesday instead of Monday,, how long will I lose my top rated seller plus discount?? For just that time I change it until I change it back? Or does anybody know?
I know the other option is to simply put my store on time away but I didn't want to close my store on the weekend and have no sales.
Thanks for anybody who has any suggestions....

·8 months agoI am about to be in the deep freeze (-40 feels like temp!) and just adjusted my handling time. I found out something that I didn't know and wanted to pass along (maybe everyone else knows and I was just clueless.)
When you adjust your handling time, if you have any active offers to you or from you, they will not change to the updated handing time. I had to end all of my listings that I had sent out offers on, and had to decline the offers that I had received in order for them to be updated.
Stay safe everyone!

·8 months agoI have eBay APP on my iPhone and get my sales in order using my phone.
We did have a few power blackouts in San Francisco beginning of the year...not weather affected.
This coming storm(doesnt' effect me) might result in power outages where the computer would be not available for using.
I suggest to always have eBay APP on one's phone to continue to work somewhat at least.
I think they say a power outage will be more major than anything else.
And I wonder if eBay would take into account a power outage for late deliveries through the seller or the shipping hubs.
Best to just stop one day shipping so one can sleep at night.
And not have to deal with getting 'dings' removed because of late shipping.
The scanner guns do not work very good also in cold weather(-40 below in Chicago)...so there might be scanner issues as well...the scanner guns that deliver people use to scan incoming packages.
Just thoughts out there.

·8 months agoYou don't even need to update your handling time for the storm. While you can, it's not necessary.
Just respond to any late shipment "ding" with an appeal, with the reason listed as "something outside of my control". Yes that includes inclement weather. It can also be used in the instance where your post office decides to wait 3 days to scan the parcel you left in their dropoff bin.
You will win the appeal every single time if you pick that as the reason. Just make sure you don't pick "I mailed it on time and have proof" as you will LOSE every single time.

·8 months agoWhat's going to happen if you can't ship Tuesday or Wednesday?
I would go on Time Away and not have to worry about it.

I was gonna go with 3 days handling but will change to 4. Making that change tomorrow morning since I can ship Friday morning
I suppose that would give me until Wednesday or Thursday to ship, for orders coming in Friday afternoon and the weekend?

·8 months agoIf you change your handling time from 1 business day to 2 business days, you won’t lose your Top Rated Seller Plus discount permanently. The discount is applied only to orders that meet the TRS+ requirements at the time the buyer purchases.
So if you switch to 2‑day handling for the weekend, any orders placed during that window simply won’t qualify for the TRS+ discount, but once you switch back to 1‑day handling, all new orders will qualify again. It doesn’t affect your overall TRS status, just the discount on those specific transactions.
Time Away is another option, but you’re right — it pauses sales unless you use the “allow sales†setting, and even then it extends handling time for everything. Adjusting handling time for a couple of days is usually the cleaner approach when weather is the issue.
Hope the storm passes without too much trouble and you stay safe.

OP8 months agoThank you so much. This is a wonderful and detailed explanation and I will see how this all progresses and more than likely will go with the adjusting handling time on the weekend. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!!
