Will eBay decide not to follow the USPS Temporary Holiday Rate Increase?

I was just wondering if there were any hints or clues out there?

The last 2 years, eBay didn't pass on the USPS Temporary Holiday Rate Increase to the sellers if we bought our labels thru them.

Does anyone think they may do this again THIS year?

I sure hope so. The continual shipping fee increases by the post office is a killer on small items.

weird, labels in my case are currently cheaper thru the usps click n ship than they are on ebay, I know there is surge pricing but seems like that would be reflected on the usps website as well.......

Items I printed labels yesterday to ship yesterday had the old rates.

Items I printed yesterday to ship Monday had the surcharged rate.

In the past there were USPS special deal contracts which held prices firm. There are fewer special deals and Ebay pays Commercial Rate as do all of the other sites I am aware of.

I am holding my fixed price shipping rates even though, after fees, I am losing a little on shipping some orders. Business is good, I am selling more than my expectations and do not wish to rock the boat.

Will SELLERS decide not to follow the USPS Temporary Holiday Rate Increase?

I sure hope so. The continual shipping fee increases by the post office is a killer on small items.

Last year it changed a few times before the surcharges went live @1011collectibles . First we weren't going to pay the surcharges, then we were going to pay them, then the final announcement said we'd only pay for certain zones/destinations/sizes.

This year, as of the info we have today (posted above), we should expect the full surcharge. However it's still possible an update will be provided at some point this week like we saw last year. Don't count on a further update, but definitely check the Announcements board this week to keep track.

Whether we pay the full surcharge or not, as long as you're using calculated shipping, eBay will factor in the correct amount.

Now that the peak season surcharges are live @1011collectibles , I am seeing the surcharge on some shipments using eBay labels, but not other shipments. It's not matching last year's breakdown. I expect we'll see something on the Announcements board this week to explain when the surcharge is / isn't applying.

I'm seeing the same rates on other label platforms, as well. So far none of them have announced anything that matches the rates I'm seeing; my guess is they will all push out updates this work week.

According to an announcement published September 15th USPS peak season rate increases running from October 5th through January and eBay will be updating eBay label rates also starting October 5th it does sound like eBay will follow USPS as far as holiday rates go.
