Why Shipping is High?
I got a gift card and gave it to my wife.
She bought 2 - 21 ounce cans of Ajax from 'A Company' ( prefer not to name the platform but you can guess who it is) among other things mailed separately.
The 2 cans came in a bag in a box...Price was under $8.00 with shipping for that.
I keep scratching my head...2 large cans of Ajax for $8.00 with shipping.
The box if I used it would be $18.00+ from the USPS.
I don't get it.
So 'A Company gets a deal from the USPS but I don't to ship items?
And they used a priority bag inside the box.
So here's my 'pet peeve' ...a lot of people here complain about sellers on eBay here using stuff to insert in boxes and bags for padding from the post office and that's why postage rates are so high...really?

·11 months agoJudging by the label and the use of a Priority Mail box, the Ajax was sold by and shipped by a third-party seller on Amazon. It wasn't sold by or shipped by Amazon.

·11 months agoIt's not merely the cost savings that the big players receive but also the preferred handling that will never receive a public admission.
I routinely ship items USPS Ground Advantage from Point A to Point B.
There is a HUGE retailer that operates out of Point B that routinely ships to my Point A.
When I ship USPS GA Point A to B it takes 5-7 business days
When Retailer X ships USPS GA Point B to Point A it takes 2-3 business days
Every time.

·11 months agoSo, are you saying that A company broke the USPS because of their misuse of their freebies or they get better rates than the eBay marketplace shippers? I would think that 2 cans of Ajax would be about 2 pounds to ship, in that box, so if they only paid $8 to ship, that is truly a bargain.

The fact that I don't get that kind of shipping price like a billion dollar company seems not right.
'broke the USPS because'....they pay nothing for shipping or close to nothing...do I?
I have to pay $18.00+ to use that box if I want to.

·11 months agoWow, that doesn't make sense. I have never seen Amazon Fulfillment use a USPS box. They always use their own Amazon boxes and send through their own distribution channels? I purchase from Amazon almost weekly for items like shipping supplies.
Only use the USPS shipping supplies when necessary as sometimes it is more economical to use a flat-rate envelope on some orders to the West coast because of such high shipping cost to the West coast. Of course with USPS consistently raising postage rates it is getting expensive to ship anywhere.

·11 months agoI've had 2 different Postmasters tell me it's ok to use Priority Mail supplies as packaging material ... as long as it ships Priority Mail.

It is likely that Amazon used its partnered carrier status on this order. Amazon truck probably brought the shipment to your local PO, so the rate did not include the cost of the long haul shipping and was heavily discounted.
Chinese Ebay sellers are using Chinese partnered carriers who also get a better rate than you or I could. They are even using it from US warehouses.

·11 months agoI do not think that any USPS rules were broken, they used priority shipping supplies to ship Via USPS priority service.
I regularly get UPS packages in priority boxes.

OP11 months agoWe had a $50.00 gift card...and we didn't need anything...had to buy something useful I guess.
There are NO Dollar Trees or Walmarts in the city of San Francisco with a population of one million people...LOL

·11 months agoYea. I my state we had thrift stores called Value Village. The best compared to the others. Shortly after the legislators raised the minimum wage to $16+ @ Hr. they closed. The surviving thrift stores seem to have raised their prices to the point I rarely bother anymore.............................

And another point...fast food joints like McDonalds are also very few and not even near me...but that's because ma and pa restaurants won't allow them to expand...very strong restaurant association in my city which doesn't include fast food joints.
