Why isn't eBay using the 9- digit zip code for tracking?
Currently eBay uses only the 5 digit zip code to track all USPS packages to prove delivery. With todays technology, why not utilize the entire 9 digit zip to help stop the fake tracking scam? It's not a full proof solution, but it is far more accurate than what is in place now, and doesn't seem like a hard thing to implement with USPS shipments. I believe shipping labels sometimes have the 9 digits, why not the tracking fro proof of delivery, too?

·1 month agoeBay Managed Shipping will alieveate a lot of the fake tracking scam issues. When they are flipping the bill for packages not being delivered to the buyer, they will start cracking down on the scammers.

·1 month agoWhile ebay say they have delivery partners there not partners in the true sense of the word "Partner" more of a recommendation that pays them a commission so there’s a limit on integration and data sharing, we know this is the case because if anything goes wrong with a delivery partner we have to upload the tracking number again that we previously entered on dispatch then use the partners remedies to put in a claim with no support on claiming from ebay.

·1 month agoWell... for starters, USPS doesn't report tracking or Delivery Confirmation to 9 digits, only 5. While they certainly have the information internally (GPS coordinates), I don't think they share that level of data, even on a programming API level.

OP1 month agoOr could it also be possible for each shipping label to print out in bar code the GPS coordinates of our address on file with eBay and when a delivery is made, if the USPS delivery GPS doesn't match the encrypted bar code GPS then a confirmed delivery is denied or the package gets returned to sender as not delivered.
Just thinking about simple ways today to attack the fake tracking scam so many seem to be caught up in. We know eBay has been slow to respond to this, but I think the technology is there to use
