Why did the eBay international standard delivery charge me $41 instead of $16 for 8oz small package?
Summary: topcousa shipped a small package internationally using eBay's delivery service, expecting to pay $16, but was later charged $41. They have a USPS receipt confirming the weight and seek assistance in contacting eBay customer service for resolution. dbmm-media and pj895 discuss whether postal clerks typically verify package details, with differing opinions.
I shipped small package 8”x6”x4” (8oz) internationally by using eBay international standard delivery to China. It was supposed to cost me $16 for 8oz and that was what I paid when I purchased the shipping label and sent out the package on Aug 31, 2026. 2 weeks later, I was charged $41 instead of $16.
Post office Clerks always check all the packages to make sure the price and weight and size are accurate. I have a receipt from post office for that item, which shows the weight was confirmed as 8oz.
I am sure there are more cases that I can find if needed. I have the receipts from USPS to prove them. How can we contact eBay Customer service? What’s going on?
Thank you,
topcousa

·1 week agoMost don't check, any likely are not supposed to be doing so, but it is very possible that some do check.
