Why can't eBay add the "ESE" eBay standard envelope to the bulk scan sheet.
This would eliminate so many problems. There are just to many instances where the "ESE" never picks up a scan and we the seller are punished for this.

·1 year agoESE is a kludge, designed to increase the volume of letter mail without any capital investment. Some clever programmer at USPS came up with a scheme to reprogram the letter sorters to have a rudimentary tracking code.
There is zero motivation to change USPS procedures and retrain mail clerks. There is no motivation to try to integrate this service with any other software.
As @wastingtime101 has enumerated, the problems with the service are primarily the senders, who are not packing in a way that works. There are sellers with few problems unique to ESE. I am not one of them because of what I sell, how I pack, and how much assurance I want that the product will not be damaged in shipping.
I am not hungry enough to sell items as inexpensive as some sellers do.

·1 year agoPretty simple reason (probably), I don't believe USPS allows Metered Mail to use Scan Forms. The tracking on ESE is not the normal tracking you get when using a package service such as Ground Advantage or Priority.

OP1 year agoMy local post office sends them to our main hub, which is 5 hours from me and they rarely scan my "ESE's"
What is my solution at this point ?

Or
Just send with a standard postage stamp for a letter and completely ditch the tracking aspect.

·1 year agoBecause SCAN sheets are for tracked packages. ESE is not a package service.
eBay Standard Envelope (ESE) is a metered letter mail shipment so it does not receive traditional tracking scans. The clerk at the PO counter cannot scan it and you can't track it on the USPS website. The envelopes are scanned by sorting machinery at distribution centers along the way and tracking will appear on eBay.
Common reasons ESE labels don't get scanned include:
- Overpacking. Envelopes are too stiff. It's not recommended to use trading card top loaders or cardboard mailers.
- Using ineligible packing material such as a bubble envelope.
- Placement of label. Label should be placed in the upper right corner with approx 1/8"-1/4" clearance from edges. If it's placed too far from the corner (like in the middle of a long envelope) the machinery may not scan it.
- Placing items like coins in the center of the envelope. The center of the envelope needs to be the most flexible part.
- Printer ink is not dark enough, or label color is too bright (stick to white labels if you can).
- Regional issues with sorting machines, volume processing, picky USPS employees, etc.
With ESE, a 'delivered' scan generally occurs at the last sort facility before it gets to the buyer; sometimes the buyer will receive their order a few days after the delivered scan.

Aside from that, you can increase your handling time if your ESEs aren't getting scanned until further down the line. It'll give you a longer cushion to get that first scan.
