WHEN IS FEDEX GONNA UP ON THEY RATES BY A BIG PERCENTAGE? THEY BEAT USPS BY >$1 ON 15oz PKG
A first every thing just happened. A small 6x6x6 box that weighed 15oz was CHEAPER to ship FEDEX than USPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since other shippers became part of EBAY shipping options, NEVER did someone beat USPS on light packages, much lass by >$1 I have to believe this will change BIG TIME. Why FEDEX so much cheaper?? A 28x12x3 box FEDEX beats USPS by $5-6 I suspect USPS going up so much because they know they can. IE people in rural AIN'T got no other option to ship. They is over a barrel and gotta pony up the extra $$$$$$ USPS went up again for 5th time in 2 years and have basically killed the cheap light stuff. Seems like just yesterday that you could ship a 8oz package for $2 😞

·8 months agoYes, that's the point. It costs a lot of money to deliver to rural areas. UPS and Fedex can't make a profit doing this, so they don't.
USPS, as a public company, is designed to break even and offer this service as a public good. And in order to break even (and fund pensions as they're legally required to!) that means that services have to be paid for.
I also miss being able to mail small packages for $1-$2, but there's a reason you never saw UPS or Fedex offering that service. It's just not cost effective.
If you think this is unfair, you are cordially invited to start your own mail delivery service. Let us all know how that works out 🙂

·8 months agoFEDEX needs to be the lowest price carrier because of the low quality of their service. FEDEX Ground is the worst of the Big 3 carriers by a mile.

I've never had a problem with Fedex Ground. They seem to be a day faster for packages coming to me than UPS. I've had more packages misdelivered to me with UPS than Fedex ground. As a matter of fact i don't think I've ever had a package from Fedex ground not get to me. I've had at least a few from both USPS and USP never make it to me. I get a lot of packages.

If filthy packages, delivered scans days before delivery, incorrect delivery time estimates, and rough handling are not problems, FEDEX Ground is a perfect service.
In much of the country, these problems and more are commonplace.
I buy enough to avoid anyone other than Ebay supplies who ship to me via FEDEX. Even my beloved Costco.
FEDEX ground was a problem carrier for many years before FEDEX bought them, when they were called RPS. FEDEX bought them and it destroyed the reputation they built with FEDEX Express, and now they are marginally surviving. Heaven help us all if they fold and we are left with only two choices.

·8 months agoI only buy something that will be delivered by FedEx if I can find it nowhere else even if that means more money. Filthy packages that I won't even bring into the house, so dirty I feel compelled to wear gloves or scrub my hands after opening them outside and disposing of the packaging.
Once I saw a FedEx driver shove a large package of mine off the back of his liftgate truck (he didn't use the liftgate) and drag it across the gravel (didn't use the handtruck I could see in the back of the truck either) at the entrance to my driveway on the side of the highway. Let alone get it actually onto my property.
I yelled but either he didn't hear me or didn't care. I got a handtruck out of the shed and brought it to where I could deal with it. I'm just glad I was home so someone driving by didn't snag it.

OP8 months agoI once posted this here but it was removed. This was for work, not ebay. Fedex forged a signature and actually the woman had remarried and changed her last name. And she was not there at time they forged the signature. So they did daily double: forged wrong name and when she was not there haha ANyway the package showed it was delivered and was never found. Fedex awful up there But here in Memphis metro they are good

If you use Pirateship most packages under pound are now cheaper t go UPS than USPS. UPS raised their prices less than the USPS for packages under a pound this year.

·8 months agodepends on the shape of the package. A 6x6x6 box 8 ozs to KS from VA is 1c cheaper with UPS than USPS. However, if you mail flat objects, like prints, and the dimensions are 15x12x1, 8 ozs, USPS is $5.52, UPS additional $12.94 ( I guess they consider such a package irregular)
