What is up with Ebay's ship and deliver dates? It was delivered before it was shipped???

Ebay is threatening to take away my top seller status because they say I took long in handling, but I ship same day or next day unless it's Sunday or a Holiday! And then I ship the next day!
The dates they have in the record for basing the claim are very off.
Can someone explain how EBAY gets these crazy dates that make no sense!

OP2 weeks agoI double checked with 4 of my buyers and they confirmed that all their the items arrived within a week with no issue. So Ebay's date showing a '2 month delivery time' is just wrong. I think some items could have gotten 2 different tracking numbers because some buyers said they are still getting a message that package is still on its way? Maybe I can go and clean up the tracking numbers?

·2 weeks agoWelcome to the US Postal Service, where tracking is attempted but not guaranteed. Their latest promo I remember is that you get UP TO 12 scans for your package. That is UP TO, which means anywhere from 0 to 12 scans. And their system for tracking is nowhere near as good as other carriers, but they do eventually get their packages delivered.
You have to remember that these are union employees who do not really want to do the extra work of scanning. They do it, but but always. I have seen packages go off the tracking scanning system for weeks and then suddenly re-appear as they are being delivered.
On the bright, of the 27,000+ packages I have shipped, all but a few of them got to where they were going in somewhat decent shape. Except for that time when I lost 30 packages in one day. Far as I can tell (from the tire tracks on the pieces of packages I got back), is one truck must have been leaving the post office with its back open, the packages fell out, and the next truck simply ran over all the packages. This was 20+ years ago and I refunded every one of the buyers. Fortunately, this hasn't happened since.
As long as the packages get there, I recognize that sometimes I will not get my best rate from eBay due to shipping problems/delays. But it's better than having a brick and mortar store with all those associated costs.

·2 weeks agoHappening here in the UK as well, pack, buy label, take to post office, hand over to a human, get a printed receipt, get a confirmation of dispatch from the post office all on the day the order drops in, listing says 2 day dispatch, item wont show as dispatched until it scanned at the mail centre, result = late dispatch defect.

OP2 weeks agoGoodness, had no idea that the dispatch date is later than the drop off date. And even more late if I just leave it in the pre paid bin!

·2 weeks agoIn the US; once 'scanned' at the counter (or at the door, I do pick ups (have for 10+ years, 2 states, 20 different carriers) and my item always shows later same day as 'received by xx post office'.

OP2 weeks agoDon’t think so. I just go into orders and print the label. The only thing I sometimes is start generating the label but then back out to check something and then go back in to create and print the label. Still, when it says that it delivered BEFORE it was shipped, thrn I know Ebay’s dates are definitely screwed up.

OP2 weeks agoI asked all 4 buyers if anything arrived late and they said no. But some said thry eere still getting messages that it was still coming but late. Do they need to mark that it already arrived in Ebay?
