What happened with ESE Tracking Lately? It seems broken now for going on almost 2 months.

Since about mid February the majority of Ebay ESE shipments barely show as delivered anymore. March has been infinitely worse. Before Mid February I never had any problems with the tracking on ESE. All of the tracking updates always updated to show as delivered. It seems like 80% of ESE deliveries stopped being updated to delivered (especially in March) and I have a list of orders stuck showing out for delivery several weeks back now. I have seen others mention this too recently. Just curious, has anyone got a hold of Ebay to see what is going on? If you have do you get stuck in the check with your post office/check with ebay loop when asking? Just curious if tracking (delivery) has been just as horrible for everyone else sending items ESE? Ground advantage is not an option for the majority of my items. So that's out.

·3 months agoI think i figured the issue and it should easily be fixed by ebay. I use the same scrappy service on whatnot using same packaging as ebay. ALL my whatnot orders arrive just fine. What's the difference? THE LABEL it needs ti be easier read by the machines. My packages get one scan then get lost probably because that little tiny barcode gets rubbed scratched whatever

OP4 months agoWhatever was going on in February and March seems to have finally been resolved by Ebay. Ebay has started posting the delivered status again on all the ESE tracking. I don't believe it was a postal issue and it was an Ebay issue instead as all my Etsy envelopes all showed delivered during this time. It was Ebay's system not syncing up correctly to note delivery on the tracking when it was supposed to like it always had before.

·3 months agoAs I understand it, eBay decides to call it "Delivered" when it's scanned passing through the destination sort facility. How it decides which facility is the destination sort (i.e. the last one that will read the routing code on the envelope) is the question. Maybe they finally refined or improved their logic for comparing the sort facility ZIP code with that of the destination address.

·5 months agoWell, it's definitely not an eBay problem. I looked over my last 4 weeks of labels and the ESE is still getting 99+% scanned and 95ish% 'delivered' scans.
Are you just dropping the stickers in an envelope? If you're stiffening them, it's possible a sorting center your stuff regularly goes through upgraded or calibrated the equipment and your envelopes are too stiff now, newer machines require more flexibility.

OP5 months agoJust the stickers. It's not how I package or ship them. They go out in a plain white envelope with the sticker/s always 1 oz. and flat and as machinable as can be. This is just a recent thing since mid February. I can think of maybe 2 times in the past year and a half before February that didn't end up saying delivered. So many now are not getting the delivery update anymore. That's why I jumped on here to see if this is a widespread thing or not. Like I said before I have seen others mention it here in the forums recently. Maybe it will get better soon and get back to showing most or all with delivered status again.

·5 months agoESE is not scanned on delivery. It never has been.
The final scan is at the last distribution center.
Since Ebay formats what it calls that scan, it can be changed at whim.
What negative impact are you seeing of the lack of a delivery scan? Other than the discomfort. If your account has not been affected, you will just need to live with it or sell items worth shipping by a real tracked service.

OP5 months agoI know how ESE works and where the scans take place. I'm not saying there weren't delivery scans, I know they aren't scanned by the drivers at the mailboxes. I'm saying the majority of the tracking has stopped showing delivered updates which I always got delivery notifications on the tracking, always, but since mid February most haven't updated as delivered on the tracking. It's just weird that it went from saying delivered like it always has since I started shipping ESE to now barely updating any as delivered. I've had to refund some people and make claims on my end because of it. It's just a pain that it's no longer updating to delivered most of the time now and keeping track of everything.

·5 months agoOut for delivery or delivered are what Ebay chooses to show as the result of the tracking. They have nothing to do with what the PO thinks or does.
If you are having some problem other than the appearance and your personal angst, what is it?
If your buyers claim non receipt, the shipment is insured and you will have to file the claim through the Ebay site to be reimbursed for the refund.
If it affecting your seller performance metrics, that might need to be addressed.
ESE is a service some sellers find acceptable and others have tried and will no longer use. Standards differ, Merchandise differs. Packaging differs.
