What good is eBay Standard Enelope Shipping?
I have sent four items using eBay Standard Envelope Shipping, since they were too small for a box, but I wanted to still have tracking and insurance, plus the price is pretty good. The first item made in eight days. Definitely acceptable. However, the last three items I sent this way, according to eBay tracking, have yet to be delivered, with one having been on the road for 26 days! And no complaints from the customers? However, I just got positive feedback from one of them, saying that they were very happy with their purchase! How is this possible, when tracking shows that it has yet to be delivered? I am now under the assumption that this tracking does not work, and that the customers HAVE recieved their purchases. Anyone with a comment?

The eBay Standard Envelope can only be used for a very narrow number of categories, as such --
"Eligible categories
As of Nov 2023, four additional categories are now eligible to use eBay standard envelope, expanding the service to eight categories. See the full list of category paths.
Thus, your "Vintage HELMS BAKERIES Menu of Birthday and Wedding Cakes, Feb 15, 1958Vintage HELMS BAKERIES Menu of Birthday and Wedding Cakes, Feb 15, 1958" was not among the items than can be shipped using the ESE.
Just because an item might fit inside the ESE does not mean that an ESE can be used.

·7 months agoI send 100 or so per month and IME 5-6% of ESE won't get the 'delivered' scan. There are a variety of reasons for this.
If it continues to happen 75% of the time it's possible your packaging is borderline too stiff, as older sorting machines have a more lenient flexibility requirement and yours may be getting kicked when they get to a newer sorter. Make sure your envelopes can bend around an 11" circle and aren't bumpy or squishy.
Bottom line though is that as long as you're getting some kind of scan and your buyers aren't complaining, you're all good.

·7 months agoThis isnt actual to the door tracking.
Its metered mail, and when it runs through the machines it will get scans.
Even if you get a delivered scan, doesnt mean it was delivered. It means that it made it's way to the destination sorting.
It's very common these get delivered without a delivery scan.
If a buyer makes a complaint just fill out the insurance claim.

Tracking doesn't work like it does on packages.
When they do get a scan, it's done at a distribution center.

·7 months agoTracking has never been 100% I have received many items over the years that were never scanned delivered. Fedex and UPS always did. USPS not so good.
The envelope is cheaper use but offers little protection. Only good for items you can afford to lose.

·7 months agoSeems that all processing equipment is not created equal. Some do not seem to process those ESE ones well, and therefore the "metered mail processing scan" does not show.
You may know. The envelopes can not be scanned at the USPS counter, or by the carrier at delivery, so if the machine processing along the way does not pick up on it then it could "deliver" with no "scan".
