what are you doing with all your free usps priority boxes?
I hardly ever ship priority anymore with the Ground Advantage option
unfortunately I have a lot of the different size free usps priority boxes
is the only option to just recycle?

LOL. When I started selling I loved flat rate priority mail. Not just for the free boxes but with "flat rate" you could stuff the box with bricks and the price was reasonable, and it was a fast shipping service. Now, I myself wonder what to do with my free boxes.

·8 months agoMy post master said I could use them as I saw fit as long as I didn't use them for non PM mail.

·8 months agolol does that include taking them to recycling plants for money? If so, then I think I’ll make a few more orders.

·8 months agoI take them back to my PO. They love having them in the lobby, I had a bunch of old discon'd ones, including RR ones, the long game boxes, etc. & still valid ones, they'd all disappeared 2 days later after I dropped them off. I wound up taking 4 trips to drop off all the excess that I had LOL.

·8 months agoMy post office only puts flat rate boxes out for customers. They make way more money that way.
I had stocked up on regional rate boxes before that went away as they could still be used for regular PM so they wouldn't take them back if I asked. Recycled most of them. Cut some up as backing when sending magazines, etc.

·8 months agoI have a few of each size in stock should I ever need them. But like you, I mostly ship usps ground advantage.

·8 months agoIt's been almost two years since I've used PM boxes.
I think PM has been going the way of the DoDo bird since the advent of GA, which is a lot cheaper and takes about the same amount of delivery time as PM. The only real use of PM that I see is maybe for PM Express purposes.
I use my leftover PM shoe boxes for cleaning my 2 cat litter boxes twice a week - works great. I'll run out of my small stock of them soon enough.
Cheers, Duffy

Nope....you can always join my local post office and decorate.... Valentine's Day is just around the corner.... Then recycle them. 🙂

·8 months agoI remember and old pizza commercial or something that shows a guys apartment and all his furniture was made from old pizza boxes. Like he made an entire sofa out of them.

My post office made a reindeer out of them.

·8 months agoI did a few tests around christmas by upgrading some GA to priority and the results of my small test was that priority mail no longer receives a priority.
I think they should just end priority mail and let any existing boxes be used on GA.

·8 months agoYou want USPS to lose even more money?

·8 months agoUSPS does not make the core of their money on PM. They actually prefer people use GA if the package is going to zones 1-4 and/or is not time-sensitive. To discourage PM use, USPS has been strategically adjusting PM prices at a higher rate than that of GA. That's not necessarily due to the PM cost increasing at a steeper rate, but because USPS wants to be the best at delivering packages by ground. Part of the long term plan is to grow their GA volume, not the PM volume.
While they are not doing away with the PM service right now, it is no longer a key component of their business model. GA is what they are pushing.

·8 months agoI do not think it will make a difference one way or another, I think that the main USPS problem like all other massive government ran programs is that they have a leaky bucket and the bucket always will leak more than what can be added to the bucket

·8 months agoI just had a customer who needed an item by a certain date that was very doubtful. I told her she should spring for the Priority. She did. It was looking really bad & suddenly it was delivered 3 days ahead of the planned date & arrived the morning she needed it for. I have NO doubt it was because she paid extra for Priority. I don't think it matters for most shipments, but in some cases, it still makes all the difference. I was so happy for her.

·8 months agoI tried that and it took the it 2 weeks to go 200 miles

·8 months agoI dropped mine off at the Pack and Ship joint down the road from me. The only ones I kept were the Small Flat Rate boxes and some of those square 7x7x6. I still use Priority for shipments to HI, AK, PR and a buyer may sometimes request Priority instead of Ground Advantage.

OP8 months agoNever thought of that. glad I asked.
although, all they stock in my PO lobby are those flat rate ($$) boxes
buyselljack2016
·8 months agoyup, they stock only the "flat rate" that can often cost more to ship than "weighted" shipping based on distance.
Offices purposely cannot order the other boxes through their internal supply ordering system.
I took some to a small local office and left them when the window was not open. Don't know if other customers snatched them up, or if the employee took care of them.

·8 months agoJust return them to the post office.

·8 months agoI took mine to my local post office and they were happy to add them to their display. Of course it is a very small office and they know me well so maybe that made a difference.

·8 months agoI have a HUGE post office & they love having them too. They have a bunch of counters where they all sit. I dumped 4 trips worth there & most were gone within 2 days. People know to BOLO for them on those counters at my PO, esp the old & unusual ones.

·8 months agoYou can still use them as long as you pay the priority rate for that size box.

·8 months agoI took most of mine back to the Post Office. They were glad to receive them.
