WARNING FEDEX AND UPS ARE SCAMMING THEIR CUSTOMERS ON Ebay
After you made the sale, you gather all the right dimensions, weight LxWxH you enter them in the system and you get the quote on Ebay system, then you purchase the label based on the lower cost of course from the cheapest carrier, what you don't know is that this was a form of scam, you just got lured by showing you a cheapest cost of shipping just to be overcharged later by another bigger expense and they can put any reason they want, any lie, just to make more money more profit it shows the kind of greed that these companies are engaging into, deception, and they don't care about their deceptive practices as long as at the end of the year they made billions at the cost of the small businesses like you and me, while the big fish are getting big discounts and fixed shipping costs, but something does not make it right is all of us as small businesses and small sellers that combination makes us a big corporation and we are entitled to that same discount same fixed costs that the big fish is entitled to and enjoying. So be aware of these scams and fight them, call Ebay to dispute those unauthorized overcharges, then call fedex or ups to dispute those "unauthorized" overcharges because We did not give them the authorization to dip into our accounts as they see fit and if you see anybody responding to this post negatively you know he's with them or from them so don't pay attention to what they will respond with, we need to fight this because if we don't these deceptive practices will continue, fight them to the bone, this is our bread and butter, if they don't want to refund then we take them to small court. Please help me to take this fight to them, we need fixed shipping costs not "maybe costs" it does not help us in knowing what to charge our customers and you may lose money.

·9 months agoYou are RIGHT, this has been a LONG STANDING ISSUE with Ebay and (mostly) FEDEX! I have lost so much money because they have an inaccurate weight during transit (another box on the scale?x2-3 times my weight) and they will just feel entitled to take money from balance, with NO RECOURSE. Fedex sends you to ebay and wants a Ebay fedex account, and ebay send you back and fourth to them, no one helps. There should be a class action lawsuit, I have never gotten anywhere, and have been stolen from many times. I stop with Fedex for the most part.

OP8 months agoThank you As of today Fedex has overcharged me by $1720 they are basically taking my profit from my pc sales and I cannot let that go, and that dimension formula is a scam, it's either you show the right and exact cost or get the "F" out of Ebay, I'm looking for an answer and I will let you know what I did, and I agree with you an action lawsuit needs to happen problem is system is corrupt many are paid during election time to help the system stay corrupted just look at who owns the most stocks of fedex and ups and you will understand.

·9 months agoI've posted about this in the past(closed thread) and have stopped using UPS & FDX,and only ship thru a small post office where I know the staff.When I get an Ebay quote for FDX & it says $17,and the retail lookup is $52,the Ebay quote is way understated.The last visit to the UPS store they refused to verify the package dimensions & weight and told me that it will be laser scanned which became overstated,charge of 2X original price after shipment.This is just like the story about Hertz rental where the laser scan detected an insignificant micro scratch on the car's rim and autobilled the customer"s credit card several hundred dollars. Corporate scams .I think Ebay no longer wants to correct this problem for sellers as it has become too widespread.I was told I would be refunded,and then reps know nothing about it weeks later. Its also been a tiresome journey having had to deal with Paypal and their chargeback fees and more. Good luck taking legal action as others want to as seen on YT.Personally,I would short these stocks at earnings report on a downtrend mkt to get even,if you know what you are doing.

OP8 months agoI did that with ups lately since their stock is going up to get even, and I did but I did miss on **bleep** fedex went up from $150 up to $377 but I will keep watching and I'm super patient it will come a time when I will shorten that stock to get my stolen funds back

Imagine a box that is:
20" × 16" × 12"
Actual weight: 8 lbs
Calculate DIM weight using a divisor of 139:
20×16×12139≈27.6
Carriers round up → 28 lbs DIM weight
So even though the box weighs only 8 lbs, you get charged for 28 lbs because the box is bulky.
Dimensional weight is how carriers charge for big, lightweight packages. They calculate how much space your box takes up and compare that to the actual weight. You’re billed for whichever is higher. A large but light box might cost more than a small heavy one because it uses more space in the truck.
I no longer use UPS - due to dimensional weight.

·9 months agoThere is speedex, gofo and other carriers but dont expect good service for small infrequent sellers not in major metro areas.You don't have Temu's advantage.

OP8 months agosee you touched a good point which I talked about it in my thread, we all as small sellers on Ebay we make up more than Temu so we are a behemoth but we are scattered and we are being milked while the big whales are benefitting from great discounts

OP8 months agoThen what do you use if not fedex or ups because even though usps is fixed but their prices are way more higher for pc's I'm referring (big boxes) not small items but even small items now usps is charging more than $5 ground while temu is charging $2.99

·9 months agobased on your listing, except pc, all your item listing are small size items, carriers are crooks, they raise their prices also every year 2-3 times and no one is there to ask them. it happened to me same thing like you had few years back and i took that case to higher end in UPS , it took me 2 months to fight every day for that issue and later they refund my money and given me reason it all happened in error but they did refund me after a long legal battle. my higly suggestion is to use poly bag instead of box and use bubble wrap to wrap item and ship in poly bag to reduce your cost. all the boxes go to different facility of USPS and all teh poly bags go to first class facility after they pick your mail. so seperate it for them before they pick it up. if they take by mistake your box which is less then 1lb to priority mail facility , they will charge you more .
they know it usps is not running good never, that is reason its still going in loss bcz of poor management.
and regarding your concern about ebay system. my personal opinion is , ebay shipping label is mess. offcourse ebay has commission too from carriers internally that is reason you see only 3 big carriers on ebay website. even though there are other many.
ebay allow their system to connect with the carrier system to show you prices tthough ebay. it does not work automatically untill you have internal contract with them.
ebay is business model care about money not about people, so thats why we are here too to make money, so be focus and try use ways to save ur money.
i can give you some tips based on my experience. so u can save ur some hard earn money.

generally recommendation :
1 : avoid ups and fed ex, they are very expensive, instead use usps ground service or first class.
2 : try use poly bags instead of boxes.

OP9 months agomy issues is with pc's not small boxes, small stuff I only use usps which they are great they do not send overcharges rarely if there's a weight discrepancy, I had high return percentage due to fedex ups damaging my pc's when I used to ship the boxes, so I had to remedy to the issue, I boxed up the pc and buy 1" insulation foam and cut it to box up the box so it looked rectangular just like a box but more robust to sustain damage and mishandling, that did cut my damage percentage to almost 0, so now after 19 years in business the first time ever they are telling the reason for the overcharge is the irregular box lol, and before it was the dimensions (weight goes from 30lb to 50lb) so you can see the lies, the deceptive practices, the theft and I can guarantee you the big fish is having fixed cost for all over the usa, but not us. And I can't use usps for pc's because it's way more expensive it's fixed but expensive I wish if they reduce their fees I would switch in heart beat thanks for the reply
