Voiding a label. USPS 28 days, ebay 5. Why the discrepancy?
It seems to me that having paid for a label which I can't use (for whatever reason) I should be able to void the label and be refunded for the unpaid postage within the USPS official window of 28 days.
What is the reasoning behind ebay only allowing 5 days to void a label?
Anyone seen any explanation for this?
It seems it would also behoove USPS to honor their 28 days window for voiding regardless of through which online site the label was paid for.
This seems to me to be theft of $$ for service paid for but not received.

·3 years agoMaybe because a label purchased through USPS is a direct purchase, while a label purchased through Ebay is not a direct purchase?
Ebay dictates how they handle the refund since they handle the payment, USPS dictates how they handle the refund since they handle the payment.
Just a guess.

OP3 years agoIf that's the case, I'd be interested if anyone knows the void window for other online postage services, like PirateShip and Stamps, plus the other sites who do their "own shipping" so called.

I googled and Pirateship and Shopify are the 28 days.

eBay is telling you that you have up to 5 days to void the label.
USPS is saying it takes 28 days to refund.
Two totally different things.

·3 years agoUSPS says that you can initiate a refund claim for a Click N Ship label up to 30 days after purchase:

I stand corrected. I'm not familiar with Click n Ship
But it does take USPS about 2 weeks or more to give you a refund after a label has been voided.
This is what I found in eBay's Printing and Voiding Shipping Labels policies.

for unused labels, USPS Click-N-Ship allows for 30 day refund online, and another 30 days beyond that by emailing for the refund.

USPS and Ebay have a 'deal' that 'purchased labels can only be voided for 5 days'; due to the Millions of Labels purchased daily.
