Video game sold & shipped to UK was returned, tracking shows Prohibited Goods
I sold a NIB playstation 4 game to someone in the UK, (valid address), bought shipping via ebay, shipped to their consolidation center.. 2 weeks later it comes back. Tracking shows the item "contains prohibited goods".
It's a run of the mill playstation game ? Nothing unusual about it.
I'd like to get my shipping refunded from ebay ?
What do I do ?
I've contacted the buyer, and he's good, I'll ship it directly myself.

·4 months agoYou need the PEGI rating on the game. Most likely it was inspected before exporting. It shipping direct and inspected it will be disposed of at UK customs... It s just a crap shoot on whether or not inspected. You paler work will be vague enough to cause pause at customs or specific enough to flag rgt away or just passed along

·4 months agoYou need to contact customs & find out why it's prohibited. They declined your shipment because it's not legal to ship it. You are subject to legal proceedings should you attempt to ship it & are caught.

Personally I wouldn't do that. I would relist it and sell it to someone else. Shipping it directly yourself might not solve the problem. In fact you might lose the item all together.

·4 months agoSounds like you Shipped using an "eBay International Standard Delivery" Label (very different from the eIS Program)...was the International Tracking an EEUS Number or an ESUS Number? But, the EISD Program does have some protection, and you can file a claim here: eBay international standard delivery | eBay. Doesn't sound like it covers your circumstances though as it's primarily to recoup for Loss or Damage. They also have a disclaimer about rejections due to Import Laws. I seriously doubt they will give you your Shipping Costs back.

OP4 months agoYes it was an ESUSxxxxxx tracking number. Someone else mentioned that perhaps it was the Pegi rating for the game, which is T for teen. It does not have any retail store security tag on it or anything like that. I have shipped several copies of this exact game to the UK before, it's not banned there or anything. It's really got me scratching my head.

·4 months agoI don't see why this item would be banned. I'd assume that this is just an eBay-specific issue or a mistake at the export center. I'd be comfortable sending it. BUT, I'm in EIS for a reason - I like the ease and protections of the program. I'd opt to relist.

·4 months agoYeah, that Tracking is NOT the eBay International Shipping Program (eIS)...it is an eBay International Standard Delivery Program Label (like sending First Class Package International on your own but not necessarily Direct). They will process at a Hub as well and then typically be sent on by Asendia. The protection program though is very different from eIS.

OP4 months agoI mean, the label I purchase from Ebay came with an Illinois business address for "Ebay international delivery", even though the buyer is in the UK. I would guess they consolidate small packages together into a palette of goods, ship that to the UK at a cheaper rate, then relabel the items in the UK for their final destination. I've seen that also with Ship station.
