USPS says delivered but hasnt been sent

I recently ordered an item and was given a tracking number, which USPS says was delivered two days ago but it was not received. I contacted the seller who says now that it hasnt been sent and was delayed and that its on its way. how can usps say it was delivered if it hasnt even been sent? Anyone run into this?

·1 week ago@cswcm6546 Is there any other informatoin associated with the tracking number other than it has been delivered? Are there tracking scans along the way? Is there an origin scan and, if so, does that match the seller's location?

·1 week agoUSPS says the shipment associated with that tracking number was delivered two days ago. Did you ask the seller why they added a tracking number to an order that hadn't been sent?

·1 week agoFault of USPS and happens all the time (being scanned as 'delivered' instead of 'shipped'. It's all about what 'setting' their scan gun is on (and sometimes...oops!)
You simply need to take that tracking number in the nearest Post Office and they can fix it.

The buyer immediately contacted me, and I was able to call the post office. They found it in the big pile of boxes, and rescanned it as dropped off. The information on eBay never corrected from delivered, but if you went to the USPS direct link, it showed the movement and eventual delivery.

·1 week agoIt's possible that the USPS recycled that tracking number. It does happen sometimes. It should update properly once it passes through a regional facility.
