USPS pricing issue
Unless I am missing something there is a problem as you can see in the screen shot...the item in question weighs in the 1-4oz Ground Advantage in a 2x6x9 package. It is going to Calif. and is set at 1-4 oz in a 2x6x9 ad is showing the buyer paid 5.20 (bought last night) and went to print shipping label and is showing my cost is 5.52....(today)...this one will be cancelled.

·7 months agoThis just happened to me, too. On 1/18/2026, USPS increased their rates on some shipping services. Calculated shipping on Ebay should have been updated, but it wasn't and still does not do it automatically in the listing.
I cannot figure out how to change the calculated shipping price in the listing. I have even tried ending the listing and relisting it. Although the new calculated shipping rate is correct, the new listing still displays the old price to the buyer.

·7 months agoRates on eBay were updated for calculated shipping @qzsuenga . The jeans you sold were set up with a flat ship cost, not calculated shipping. Same user error as the OP. If you want to use calculated shipping, then you need to select that when setting up or editing your listing.

·6 months agoAll my listings were calculated shipping buyer pays. I removed all of my remaining listings because even after attempting to end them and then relist, they still show inaccurate shipping costs for the buyer in the listings.
I did finally talk to a rep at Ebay about this and they verified that the listing was calculated shipping to be paid by the buyer. However, they would not refund the approximately $3 additional shipping costs that I paid. Since then, I did attempt to end and relist a couple of items and they still showed the wrong price for shipping so I ended them all. The item list price was $15.99 and I was paid approximately $6.50 for shipping that cost me $9.20. After all of the fees and shipping, I received less than $10 that's about 62% of the list price. In other words, it wound up costing me nearly 38% which is entirely too much for someone just trying to make a few dollars while recycling a few things. I think I will try elsewhere.

·8 months agoWhy cancel an order and take an OOS ding over 32 cents?

·8 months agoI bet you they didn't use an OOS reason.

·8 months agoNope. Click to read post 4.

·8 months agoIts what I expected.
Tbh eBay has made some changes to detect when people inappropriately use the cancellation system but its not enough.
People use issue with buyers addresss for basically any issue regardless if it applies.

·8 months agoYeah its horrible eBay charged the buyer exactly what you told eBay to charge the buyer.
As always @quicksilverdiecast your logic is sound. 🙃

·8 months agoYou are going to cancel a transaction over 32 cents? Eat the difference and ship the item the buyer paid for. Sometimes in certain situations it's not worth the hassle dealing with an unhappy buyer.

·8 months agoThis is why it's important to select the correct shipping DATE when you generate the label.
The More You Know 🙂

·8 months agoWhat does ship date have to do with it @kibble-net ? Seller charged a flat ship cost of $5.20 - that has no impact on what the label actually costs, regardless of ship date.

·8 months agoMust be missing something. Why would our OP cancel this sale & risk having an unhappy customer & possibly receiving "The Deadly EBay Ding" or a negative feedback over a few pennies?

·8 months agoHi @quicksilverdiecast . eBay billed the exact cost on your listing.
Item 376773636716 was set up with a flat shipping cost of $5.20, regardless of buyer location. This is different from your other listings which are charging calculated retail rates.
wastingtime101
·8 months agoBy the way @quicksilverdiecast - you have a bunch of listings with a flat ship cost of $5.20 or $5.40.
Before you start cancelling more orders over a few dimes, you might want to make some adjustments.
Examples:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/376773636716
https://www.ebay.com/itm/376831460737
https://www.ebay.com/itm/376751284023
https://www.ebay.com/itm/365283592383
You can go through the rest of your listings yourself.

OP8 months agoI am fairly sure I have found all the free or flat rate shipping and changed back to calculated.
It is not an issue with the buyers, as it gets explained to them and they understand.

OP8 months ago"Before you start cancelling more orders over a few dimes, you might want to make some adjustments."
Those dimes add up fast and turn into dollars....if I only sold a piece here and there it would not be an issue....1 order a couple days ago was 72 pieces...so it is not just a matter of cents.

·8 months agoPostage increased over the weekend - AGAIN!

·8 months agoUSPS prices went up effective 1/18 so it looks like you calculated on the older rates.
But why would you cancel and get a ding? (You did choose an honest reason for the cancellation, right? Like OOS?)
quicksilverdiecast
OP8 months agoI realize the rate changed over weekend..had to fix all the free shipping ones...this was bought on 1/19 today is 1/20...should be all on current rate.
quicksilverdiecast
OP8 months agoThe honest answer is something is wrong with buyers address...which is used to calc shipping. Since answers are limited and only cover what ebay thinks....one has to think deeper to apply correctly.
albertabrightalberta
·8 months agoNo, there's nothing wrong with the buyer's address. The honest answer is that you set your (fixed) shipping price too low to cover the increase in postal rates. You did NOT use calculated shipping. Had you done so, you wouldn't have had to cover the $.32 additional cost.
How about considering that 32 cents a cheap education? @wastingtime101 was even helpful enough to point out your other listings in which you'll have the same undercharged postage so you know which listings need fixing.
wastingtime101
·8 months agoThere were a lot more listings with flat $5.20 shipping than what I posted, but I gave the OP a hand by pointing out a few to get them started.
I admit I'm surprised any seller would cancel a single order over 32c, even if they inadvertently sold at a loss, even if it was an eBay error (which it clearly wasn't).
