📦 Updates to USPS Mail & Shipping Service Pricing
Ground Advantage: although USPS is changing how it prices packages under 1 lb, the good news is eBay Labels will continue to offer the same four weight tiers with no rate increases at this time. Rates for packages over 1 lb are also unchanged.
This is what eBay posted regarding the price increase effect 7/12/26 - Just went to print labels for shipping on Monday (our post office isn't open on Saturdays!) and found the price of the label needed went from $6.75 to $840!!!!
How is this NOT CHANGING THE PRICES????

·2 weeks agoI don't get this rate thing. 11x7x1 padded env. 4oz. Some are 5.xx. Some are 7.xx. This is happening on Amz also. The ones that are 7.xx I can go to usps.com and get a label for 5.xx.

·2 weeks agoUSPS rates vs Ebay rates for Ground Advantage are very different. If I use Ebay shipping labels, approximately 60 - 75% of my shipments show higher ground advantage rates with Ebay shipping. The same dimensions, address, weight and zip are $1.50 to $1.75+ cheaper for EACH parcel weighing between 4 to 12 ounces when using USPS click n' ship directly on the USPS site. Often, Ebay will show a HIGHER "rural" zip code rate for the same zip code that USPS charges the non-rural rate (for Ground Advantage Service when I purchase labels directly on the USPS website). The USPS shipping labels are significantly cheaper than the Ebay shipping labels saving approximately $1.50 to $1.75 PER PARCEL. These savings ARE SIGNIFICANT for sellers and buyers. It would be great if Ebay would match those rates for everyone. It sure looks as though Ebay is generating a profit when sellers purchase shipping labels through Ebay shipping. Let's not forget that Ebay is also taking a portion of the shipping cost paid by the buyer in the form of a percentage fee on every transaction which also drives the shipping costs higher for the buyer. Will Ebay match the shipping rates offered by the USPS to small business????

As usual..it is us the Sellers that have to bear the brunt of Ebay's Foul Ups.
i am so disgusted with them but they are the only viable game in town.

·3 weeks agosame here. This is insane and tell me Ebay doesn;t get huge discounts like they can't pass them on to the sellers so we aren't losing all the way around. Now they will get even more out of us from the rural fees making shipping higher

Ground Advantage pricing changes for lightweight shipments
USPS is eliminating ounce-based pricing for Ground Advantage at Commercial Pricing rates. Beginning July 12th, all Ground Advantage shipments under 1 pound will cost the same within a given zone, regardless of their exact weight in ounces.
This change to Commercial Pricing will affect shipments to and from non-contiguous locations, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and military addresses. Contiguous shipments qualify for our below-Commercial Pricing rates, which will continue using ounce-based pricing for Ground Advantage shipments under 1 pound, and which USPS has not notified us of any changes to.

Today eBay wanted to charge me $8.07 for shipping a 3 Oz
$14.00 item bubble mailer from 95020 Calif to 74470 Webber Falls, OK.
Pirate Ship charged me $6.13 for the same label today and they have not increased shipping costs for the sub-pound packages......yet.
My old label cost before the USPS 8% recent increase was under $6.00.
If you add the shipping cost increase to the eBay fee increases, it's making it extremely difficult to survive on eBay.
Today eBay is not answering phones....probably because they are slammed with customer calls about shipping confusion. First they said NO PRICE INCREASE ON SUB-POUND SHIPPING and now we get blind sided.
So, if it's true that there are increases on rural shipping rates I'm screwed because many of my customers live in rural locations.

I absolutely refuse to sell with Ebay until this problem is fixed. That's terrible business considering I know it doesn't cost $8.40 to fly a 7' x 9" bubble mailer.
Ebay- you need to offer a more competitive option- it's your business profits sinking as well!

·1 month agoI was really surprised when I saw the new prices today when creating labels. Several of my shipments were over eight dollars. I knew there was going to be some kind of an increase however I never thought a four ounce ground advantage package would cost over eight dollars.

That said, a dozen orders going out and not one shocker. A couple of rurals that were higher, but not all rates went up. The message Devon posted last week is correct.
What it is sellers know prices changed Sunday and they are only now paying attention. They missed the earlier price increases. We see this almost everytime there is a change.
How many times have sellers who have been on the platform 20 years come here upset because they just happened to notice the postal rates for once and have no clue they have been going up for years?
Some people live in a bubble, then want to point fingers at others when their bubble bursts.

Apple to Oranges?

They did change. I paid about $5.95 to ship a 4-ounce item from Ohio to California before. It's now $8.40. THATS AN INCREASE. A $10 item cost $8.40 to mail. Who's going to buy the same item when I raise the rate. Plus, because eBay includes postage and sales tax when figuring fees they charged $2.68 transaction fees on this $10 item. 26.8% selling fees. I can't keep losing money with theses high fees and postage increases. Facebook Market Place here I come.

I have two orders going to Los Angeles. One at 4oz, which is $5.97, and the other for 8oz, for $6.24.
For the last time, it depends on the zip code your are shipping to. You cannot go by the mailing designation. That isn't how it works, so you are either lying or ignorant.
There are many areas around Los Angeles that use the city of Los Angeles as the mailing address, but are very much rural. The same is true for many other cities across the country. For example, I live in the city. I'm not rural. I have family who are in the country, outside of the city limits by 10 miles. To mail them a letter, I must put the city name on the envelope, but their zip code is considered rural. If I ship them a 4oz package, it would be $6.93 and they are in Zone 1.
eBay did not lie. I've not lied. You just have no idea what you are doing.
Have a happy and healthy, and enjoy paying that extra cost. :)

Ebay specifically said the rates WILL NOT INCREASE on packages under 1lb through ebay labels, when they obviously have, there are now multiple forum posts here saying the same thing. Furthermore if i check what it costs to ship a package from PA to los angeles CA, it now costs over $8.00 for a 4oz package, when before it was $5.90, that is an increase of $2.10, unless you want to tell me Santa Monica is a rural zip code?

The problem is you and he do not understand eBays clarification Pinned at the Top of this (Shipping) Category Page. Because the 1lb discount stipulation does not apply to the 2024...17,000 Plus Zipcodes List for Rural area's and several other Zones as stated. Please read it. All you have to do to verify it is use a Zipcode on the Rural Listing and then use a Zipcode Not on the Rural Listing and compare the pricing on eBay for the same Weight and Dimensions and Zone. Not hard. What is the Zipcode you are using for Santa Monica, pretty sure there is more than one?

We are now expected to inform some buyers they will have to pay another $3 for postage. If you use the "actual postage cost" feature most buyers won't be up on the changes to recognize the increases. Sellers can expect a big increase in canceled auctions and non- payments.

This is terrible business- I'm sure Ebay will notice a significant difference in profits once people stop buying due to highway robbery in shipping!

They don't realize eBay includes the postage and tax when it calculates the final fee, so we just took another increase in eBay fees. eBay charged me a $2.68 final fee on the $10 item that I also took the hit on for postage. 26.8% final fee. We'll be moving some of our business back to flea markets and FB Market Place and christworks and eBay can pray for some business. Buyers won't pay $8.40 postage for a $10 item, and I won't pay over a fourth of my sales to eBay for fees.

·1 month ago@sierrapatchworks Your Price/Discount depends on the Zipcode you are sending it to just like it has since 2024. $8.40 is correct for Zone 8 for a destination on the Rural Zipcode Listing. What are the Origin and Destination Zipcodes?

·1 month ago$8.40 is correct for the NEW rates, not the old that this post is about. This is an increase of about $2.50. Every zip code went up, not just rural codes and Alaska PR & Hawaii. USPS restructured their Ground Advantage lower ounce tiers for ALL ZIP CODES not just the rural ones.
