USPS postage is going up again on 18 January 2026
Shipping is going up again. Flat rate is going down a tiny bit, but everything else is going up. Most of my packages are between 8 and 13 ounces, and postage on these weights will go up 4%. I am already eating postage because if I keep raising my shipping cost to keep up with USPS I lose business. I am as frustrated as every other seller on this site. I realize it isn't ebay's fault, but the USPS keep raising prices and their services are not keeping up with their increases. Thanks for the vent.

Literally everything goes up in price 4% or more every year, that's life in the 21st century for you.

·9 months agoIn general, USPS is the cheapest and most convenient for most people. As to what is worth selling that is up to the buyer. List your item and a clear shipping cost and let them decide if it worth buying. But I do agree that the selling of lower cost items is going to get more difficult

OP9 months agoUnfortunately for some of my items USPS is the least expensive. When I have larger, heavier items I do go across the board to determine what is the biggest bang for the buck. - and for those buyers that say they go with free shipping, those shipping costs are incorporated into the cost of the item. It is a head game. There is no free lunch.

·9 months agoI have several hundred pieces of ephemera, old photos, and oversize postcards that I used to sell regularly for under $5 and ship for $1.50-2.00. Today, no one wants to pay $3 or $4 for an item plus $5 minimally for shipping.
The alternative is to ship without tracking, but then you get dinged for failure to upload tracking info, so your seller rating goes down.
It's a no-win.

·9 months agoUnfortunately prices will continue to increase annually. Even with these increases USPS is still losing money. It is not worth listing stuff $6 or under cause it costs more to ship than the item is worth with an Ebay discount. Just imagine having to pay retail over $9 which then it won't be worth selling $10-$11 items anymore.

·9 months agoI fear sales will be on the decline anyway as more people struggle to keep up with rising costs without an equivalent raise in wages.
As a buyer, I'm definitely more inclined to purchase items that include free shipping, without a doubt. I wish federal or state governments would chip in to keep postage rates as low as reasonably possible. Paying sales tax for everything we buy and then taxes on yearly income just seems like double dipping while the carriers who help drive the economy in large countries are just ignored.

·9 months agoWrite your Congressmen and let them know where you stand on the endless increases and mismanagement at the post office, and how it is harming American businesses like ours. The USPS answers to Congress. I have done it. I wish everyone would.
