Using BRIGHTLY COLORED PACKAGES OR COVERING THEM IN BRIGHT LABELS for USPS
I have noticed that the USPS does a much better job since I began making all my packages easy to see.
I have a virtually endless supply of bright or eye catching labels for packages. Since I have began doing this everything been PERFECT. No packages for Seattle went to San Juan first or something similar.
My regular mailman say they all smoke weed at the sort facilities and maybe if lighting poor or bit too high they tend to misplace plain boxes. I think it was Nietzsche who said "a stoned worker my be a happy worker, but not necessarily a productive one". I think Fredrick was correct. It may be worth investing in sometime bright and festive

There is a second, more psychological, reason why I sometimes use loud packaging: It puts the buyer in a good mood. It is human nature to like getting mail, so when someone receives a package they have been waiting on and they see that pop, there is a little dopamine release that happens. It just sets the table for the buyer to open their package. But, you better deliver with what's inside. Things like that won't save you if you have screwed up, and it could make things worse.
I am cautious about using loud packaging for certain items. Something that is a collectable or high end electronics? No. In instances like that it can come across as cheap and/or unprofessional.

·8 months agoMost packages (and letter mail for that matter) are sorted by machine regardless of carrier. The "weed smoking employees" are rarely the reason for weird routing. IMO packages are routed weird for the same reason Google Maps will send you over a winding mountain pass or through neighborhoods to shave 35 secs. off your trip when there's an accident ahead.
That said, even though I've never had a package lost, last time I bought poly mailers, I chose blue specifically to contrast with the shipping label..
ETA: Also that said, packaging stuff in a Wally cracker box wrapped in checkered paper may not be the best way to make your stuff stand out LOL...
