UPS vs. eBay loop for Next Day Air refund

I need advice on how to get eBay to act as the "Account Holder" for a UPS Next Day Air label bought through eBay. The shipment was delivered late. I already refunded my buyer out of pocket. When I contacted eBay, the agent told me I had to deal with UPS myself. However, after speaking with a UPS Billing Supervisor, I was told:
UPS cannot process a refund or credit at my request because I am not the account holder—eBay is.
The supervisor confirmed that UPS does regularly reimburse the eBay master account for service failures, but the request must come from eBay.
UPS opened a formal case number for me, but they said it will sit there until eBay reaches out to claim it.
I am stuck. eBay tells me to talk to UPS, UPS says only eBay can trigger the refund. Has anyone successfully gotten eBay to take responsibility for a carrier billing dispute when UPS confirms they only deal with the account holder?

·3 months agoSame problem here. The UPS over night air arrived very late. eBay told me to deal with UPS and UPS told me to deal with eBay. Nowhere on UPS website does it allow you to file a claim against their shipping guarantee - the options are either missing or broken. When I filed for missing, the reply was that the "seller" (eBay) has put restrictions against filing claims. I've been circling around this - neither of their AI chat bots can direct me to the right place... and the link in the comments here don't advance me to anywhere that would help either. So... UPS got some free money - unfair business practices. Beware!

·8 months agoSorry nobody replied before now. There is a very specific process for filing UPS claims when the label was purchased on eBay's account @ylla_closet .
