UPS SURE POST
I have used the UPS SURE POST, ;where UPS accepts the package, sends to the USPS local post office for the finnal delivery. Great service, label has both UPS/USPS on same label. Worked well for many years, now I am not sure which tracking number to use when shipping. If I use the UPS label track, my screen says package ready to ship? Do I use the USPS track ? Not sure how to correct this.

·6 months ago@romulus123 You will upload the UPS tracking number if you are using UPS GroundSaver. If your buyer selected USPS Ground Advantage, then you cannot use UPSGroundSaver becuase that is an economy service and Ground Advantage is a Standard Service. Still, that is not why you are getting the message to "ship now." (I know, because I had an instance where the buyer and I agreed a downgraded service was appropiate in our unique situation. Everything worked fine on the eBay side and the lower service tracking number was accepted without any issues.)
If you entered the USPS tracking number from a UPS Ground Saver label, that is likely what is causing your issue. Remove that tracking number and replace it with the UPS Ground Saver number.

OP6 months agoThank you.....looks like alot more business for the USPS. Odd to see that both UPS and FEDEX saver programs are considered a downgrade to USPS?

OP6 months agoQuestion if I use the UPS/FEDEX main shipping and not the discounted services by UPS/FEDEX,,...could I then use standard shipping on UPS/FEDEX over the USPS? It would be a premium shipping opposed to USPS. Thouughts?

·6 months agoUPS Ground and FedEx Ground are considered upgrades over USPS Ground Advantage.

·6 months agoNo they aren't.
Ebay labels them all Standard Shipping and they are equal to each other.
An upgraded service from UPS to USPS Ground Advantage would be UPS 3 Day Select.

·6 months agoThe reality of it is, they are both upgrades from USPS Ground Advantage as far as consistently delivering ahead of Ground Advantage.
Both UPS and Fedex get their shipments out of their distribution hubs and headed to the buyers location quicker than USPS. No question there. Those services are definitely an upgrade.
I use mainly UPS. If I ever have any problems, whatsoever with a delayed shipment, it is always USPS and I don't ship anything expensive with them, no matter what.

·6 months agoThat may be your experience, however not mine.
USPS Ground Advantage typically delivers 1 day faster for most shipments.
However, our anecdotal evidence is meaningless.
When we talk about "upgrades" we go by how eBay defines upgrades, and based on eBay, they are equal service.

·6 months agoWhether it's an upgrade or not, you should check with the buyer to verify that they're okay with UPS or Fedex.
As a buyer, I avoid sellers who use UPS and Fedex and I purposely choose USPS. And I'd be ticked if you decided to use a different service than I purposely chose.

@romulus123
I just looked at several of your listings and you don't even offer buyers a choice. All the listings I looked at show shipping by Ground Advantage and that's what you MUST use.

Ebay is OK with upgrading shipping, though I don't "ask" the buyer, I tell the buyer they were upgraded and to which carrier.
Asking is nice as well, but not something I am going to wait for a response on from the buyer before taking that action.

OP6 months agoJust shipped two items, used the UPS printed label, marked ship on overview, Yet little bell notifications says 2 items to ship?

Enter the tracking number.

OP6 months agoDid that...added tracking number foor UPS and USPS. Still showing PAID SHIP NOW, on first EBAY screen. Spoke to a tech at EBAY...said that reason I have the two PAID SHIP NOW notiifications is because the High Bidder marked SELECTED BY BUYER as shipping (USPS ), but I had upped the package to UPS? Thats a new one for me...I have upped the shipping on pricey items, because UPS does better job than USPS. Frustrating.....

·6 months agoI believe you violated eBay policy by downgrading service.
The only economy service is media mail, and I'm skeptical that is what the buyer selected.
Ups surepost is an economy service, so I suspect you downgraded shipping service which is a violation of eBay policy.
Second when you use UPS SurePost aka UPS Ground Saver, you should never add the USPS tracking number.
You only add the UPS tracking. This screws the system up by adding both.

·6 months agoIf the buyer chooses USPS, you are not allowed to change to UPS.
As the buyer, if I choose USPS and the seller ships UPS or FedEx…I would be very unhappy. There is a reason I chose USPS.

·6 months agoYou use the Tracking for the first carrier you hand it over to. That will be the one that functions.

OP6 months agoJust did that entered the UPS, created label....but still shows SHIP NOW on screen??
