ups package held by usps for more payment
I paid for a UPOS ground label for $9 using ebay. I took it to ups store myself. I then get 5 messages from buyer saying USPS is holding his package and asking for $12 more. He went to post office and paid and got his item. He left negitive feedback before I had chance to send him refund. Which I can deal with. I dont understand how USPS got the package and how can they charge a fee when I had paid for UPS label. Does UPS just get the $9 for nothing since USPS had the package? Can someone make this make sense please
May the force be with you
Thanks,
Willie

·1 year agoDid you use USPS Priority packaging on a UPS Ground Saver (Surepost) shipment @willie1932 ? That's the only scenario where I can see USPS trying to charge postage due on a UPS Ground Saver shipment.
You're sure it was a UPS Ground label? Or was it UPS Ground Saver or was it USPS Ground Advantage?
If it was UPS Ground then it's a case of the buyer mistaking you with a different seller.
Edit to add:
Your listing advertises UPS Ground Saver which is a service where UPS hands off to USPS for last mile delivery. But even with that service, the label purchase is with UPS so USPS should not be adding postage due.
Either there was an issue with Priority packaging as suggested in my first sentence, or you need to ask the buyer for copies of the postage due notice and/or USPS receipt because it was a UPS label.
Come back to provide more information.
If you did not ship in USPS Priority packaging, then there's no reason for USPS to charge postage due on a UPS label and you can probably get the feedback removed by saying it was left for the wrong seller as you shipped with UPS.

Are you able to confirm, on your end, that the buyer was charged extra for the package by USPS? To put it another way, is the buyer the only source you have for this info that an extra fee was charged?

·1 year agoIt looks like you used the Surepost option with UPS Ground Saver option (the final mile is switched to USPS.....)
What I don't get is that the additional charges should have just been deducted from your account (I thought)
