UPS label scanned at drop-off but retrieved. Falsely marked Underpaid. Need help from Community Manager
Summary: kgriffey99 is disputing a UPS shipping cost adjustment for an item that was scanned at drop-off but never shipped, claiming it was unfairly marked as underpaid. They have contacted support multiple times without resolution and are seeking help from the community. ryry-jj and redmodelt suggest that scanning implies the package was accepted, potentially incurring a retrieval fee, and recommend confirming if other charges apply. bdmh-enterprises advises reporting the buyer for improper cancellation requests and highlights the community's nature as fellow users rather than eBay employees. redmodelt suggests opening a personal UPS account to prevent similar issues in the future.
"I am writing to dispute a UPS Shipping Cost Adjustment on item ID #158074361851, Order #11-14912-87687 An item was scanned at drop-off but immediately retrieved and never shipped. It was falsely hit with an underpaid adjustment. Because eBay owns the commercial UPS account, I need you to open an official Carrier Adjustment Dispute to reverse this fee and release my original label funds.
The original buyer for this item decided that they didn't want it the next day but instead of asking me for a cancellation they requested a return which locked my cancellation. The order is still sitting in the open status.
I have initiated three calls now regarding the underpaid label that was not used and also tracking info hit on my account that there is no tracking for and I have not gotten any results. Every single one of them said that they are going to file an appeal and I have had absolutely nothing happen.
Please help me resolve the shipping issue and I will contact a different forum for the tracking info hit. Thank you

·1 month agoLike USPS if you do a call back after the item is in the mail stream, there may be a charge. Reading this post, looks like you did a call back on the package after it was accepted and in the shipping stream.
Normally with UPS, the actual shipping cost is not billed till delivery. If the label was not used, there is nothing to cancel, but in this case, the label was used as it was scanned when you dropped it off. There is the possibility that the shipping cost may drop off and only be charged for the call back if UPS charges the latter. You might contact UPS and ask if they do as a general question.
So you know, we are other buyers and sellers not eBay employees so all we can do is make suggestions not make any changes.
I would suggest if you use UPS, to open your own account in the future. Not hard to do.

·1 month agoIf the label was scanned at drop off as you said, then it is "used" and you will not get a refund on it. A buyer can not request to cancel after the label is purchased. You should report the buyer for filing a return before receiving the item. You can manually 'mark the item as shipped' from your order page.
Late shipping defects are irrelevant unless you're top rated and get a bunch of them. Don't waste your time over one.
Also, this is a community forum of other eBay members. There is no "community manager" (or any other eBay employee) here and I have no idea why so many people think there is.

·1 month agoIm not sure what you mean "immediately retrieved"? If the package was accepted at UPS, you are responsible for the cost of the label. If it was accepted , tracking should have uploaded as received.
If the package was never received, then you can file for a cancelled label, but the fact that you are then being charged more, points to it being received, thus tracking should be logged

OP1 month agoHello,
The item with the label was taken before UPS scanned it in right now my order still says ship your item even though the buyer was totally refunded and I canceled that label.

·1 month agoare you sure the underpayment isn't for another package? I have no clue how you can have an underpayment for anything if the package was never accepted, how would anyone know?
redmodelt
·1 month agoIf it was scanned, it was accepted.
ryry-jj
·1 month agoCorrect, but the OP is saying it wasn't accepted, so I'm confused as to how there could be any underpayment charge for a non accepted package. Im thinking it had to be accepted....but then tracking would have updated and the OP would not have that issue. Something is missing in all this.....

·1 month ago"An item was scanned at drop-off but immediately retrieved and never shipped." So yes it was scanned.
ryry-jj
·1 month agook, scanned means it was shipped. The underpayment now could be the retrieval fee or intercept fee added on. So you would owe the shipping fee, no refund available and possibly the intercept fee, that could be the underpayment you owe. As far as tracking, that should have been updated to "accepted"...still no idea what is going on there

OP1 month agoYes it is the same order number attached to that label charge as the order
