UPS & Fed Ex to be billed when the label is printed
This message just started popping up when I print a label: "Starting in September, FedEx® and UPS® label fees will be charged to your funds at the time of label purchase instead of after the package has been delivered. Learn more about paying for shipping labels on eBay."
That should help to eliminate those folks who post angry rants that they are being billed twice when the ship via UPS or Fedex: once when they print the label, then again days later when UPS & Fedex finally get around to billing eBay for the shipping after the package is delivered.
It won't do anything for those who don't enter the correct weight or dimensions & get an upcharge after the fact.

·2 years agoMakes sense. They get their money sooner and no automatic refunds on unused labels.

·2 years ago...obviously, if you never use the label, there's nothing to refund--because you never get charged in the first place.

·2 years agoIt does appear that the Fedex/UPS costs will still be deducted from available funds rather than preferred payment method.
i have not shipped with those options since this change, can anyone confirm?

·2 years agoYou can use your funds to purchase shipping labels for the items you sell. If your funds aren’t sufficient to cover the full cost of FedEx, UPS and USPS labels, eBay will charge the remaining balance to your on-file payment method, such as a credit card or linked bank account. If you’re purchasing a USPS shipping label, and your funds aren’t sufficient to cover the full cost of the label, you can also use PayPal to purchase the label instead.

·2 years agoSurely we can choose it to be billed to credit card like our USPS labels. I will agrue up and down. I get 3% cash back on my card so this helps. I get ZERO if they take out of my account! I will be **bleep**!

The only way to pay for UPS and FedEx labels through eBay is using "available funds" so if you purchase a UPS/FedEx label, then later purchase a USPS label, you'll have to switch your payment method back to PayPal before purchasing the USPS label.
It's a sticky setting so whatever payment method was used for your last label purchase will stay until you change it again.
I know eBay just released even lower UPS rates which is great, but honestly I haven't even looked at them yet to compare with PirateShip UPS rates. The reason is because I can't use my credit card to pay for UPS through eBay.

·2 years agoHave you figured out how to charge your card yet? I am only asking because I am missing out my cashback incentive since the change.

·2 years agoI just printed a ups label and haven't seen it come out of payments or my bank yet. I don't think it has gone into effect yet as I went in to see if I can void the label and it says the same as before that it can't be voided because it's billed after.

·2 years ago...so how long till you finally got billed by UPS?
I had one picked up by Fedex Tuesday morning, and I'm still waiting.

·2 years agoI think this is a great change. It will solve a lot of problems and questions sellers deal with on the delayed UPS/FedEx billing model, and it will provide consistency with the way USPS labels are billed.
