UPS Fake tracking number scam, no ebay buyer protection

Scammer just tricked both E-bay and Paypal with a tracking# that does not go to my HOME

UPS refuses to assist, since I can't name the address on the label (How on earth would I know?? You all know. So you know it's not mine. ). Tracking# only provides the City, State and Zip.
Paypal demands I get proof from UPS, who doesn't even recognize me.
Your "Generative AI" is years away from this issue...someone do their job over there.
10 Phone calls later, still ZERO assistance or accountability from either Ebay or PayPal.
Doesn't E-bay or PayPal cross-reference the actual Street Address?? How can such a juvenile trick even work in this day and age.

·1 month ago · EditedThat seller has about 46,000 items sold and a 98.9% feedback rating, so not your typical false tracking scammer. Perhaps the seller has added a new drop-shipping fulfillment service that is using false tracking or the seller made a mistake and provided the wrong tracking number for your package.If you go to the nearest UPS store with a copy of your order details that shows your address and the tracking number you received, someone should be able to confirm if the package had your name and address on or not even if they cannot tell you the actual name and address. If you can get that in writing you may be able to pursue a "false tracking" case with PayPal or your credit card issuer.

The UPS store says they dont even have access to the address details from the tracking # in their system and can't help me.
The UPS phone#, got no where 4 times... they refuse to help me because I cant provide the address it went to. Step 1 of the verification process.
The item was removed for vague item restrictions immediately after it was delivered to this other address.

·1 month agoAh, my mistake. The link provided forwards to a product page, not the original listing, at least for me. When I follow a direct link to the original listing on ebay.ca I can see the 97% seller. Most of the seller's feedback is automated feedback provided by eBay, not actual feedback from buyers. It appears the original seller (or possibly the person who hijacked the account) is drop-shipping from Walmart while undercutting Walmart prices -- often a sign of a triangulation scammer.

·1 month agoPayPal is neither the sender or the receiver, and thus is not entitled to see any info about the shipment.

OP1 month agoWhile I would assume the same, unless it was booked through their system, two of the phone associates claimed Paypal has a system with UPS and they can call them direct and at least verify the same level of info I have. I would get a call 48-72 hrs later. Never got a call on either and nothing has been updated in their system.
We take several methods of payments here for our business. Same account I use for this. Bought that for the office garage. haha. We dont mind removing Paypal from one of our payment methods. It's been on the chopping block for some time anyway.

·1 month agoSince you opened a case with Pay Pal, Ebay won'[t do anything.
Get a letter from UPS stating the package with that tracking number was not addressed to you and use it to appeal the Pay Pal case.

·1 month agoDispute the payment with the bank behind your credit card, debit card, or checking account. It's easy to do online with most banks these days.

I*'d keep calling until you can reach someone that could help.
Tell them you don't need to know where it was delivered, you just need to know if it was addressed to you.

OP1 month agobelieve me, i worded it EVERY way i could to express this and get some kind of validation for paypal.
again, how about Ebay and Paypal simply verify the address in a "not received" dispute. seems pretty elementary.

All they can do is go by the tracking, which just says it was delivered, but not where it was delivered.

·1 month agoWhen I buy something through eBay, I always pay with a (2% cash back) credit card through PayPal. It means I have eBay and PayPal's "buyer protection" and real protection from the bank that issued my credit card, plus a 2% discount.
