UPS (and USPS) adding shipping adjustment charges, no way to dispute

Hi all, starting late last year, and 3 times this year I've had some unfair charges. My boxes are measured, items are lightweight and they are coming back with 11 pound weight, or wrong box dimensions, address correction. I have been selling similar items for a while now with no change in the way I package the items.

I hand deliver to UPS, get a receipt. I took it to the UPS store and they said they are a franchise and have to contact UPS, but I don't see any way to dispute this charge.

It would be helpful if eBay had a way to dispute these by uploading our receipts!

This has eaten away at what I'm making which isn't much after eBay fees. This is discouraging me from continuing to sell here 😞

Anyone else seeing a sudden increase in added fees?

    Thanks for your replies all!

I do understand that eBay has nothing to do with shipping, however am suggesting that they provide us with a link that would lead to a dispute in the emails about the extra charge.

I did talk to someone different at my local UPS, and I showed them the receipts. One of them didn't have a weight on it. I always set it on the scale. She said we have to ask them to weigh it just because it's placed on the scale it doesn't mean it they weigh it?! Crazy. So, that one was maybe 2lbs at most but UPS said it was 11lbs. my fault for not checking that one receipt.

That said, I'll contact them via the website, but I'm sure it will be a slow and cumbersome process.

I was able to dispute the few adjustments for UPS packages that I've ever had, entirely through the Pirate Ship web interface. The charges were refunded within a few days. Of course, I was always protected by my use of a credit card.

This is a common complaint when dealing with UPS and FedEx. These are not increase fees these are added fees bases on carrier stating that you incorrectly typed in the wrong measurements or weight. For me I find USPS easier to deal with when it comes to being accurate on weight and measurements where I am not charged getting adjustment charges. This is through the carrier not Ebay. Ebay has nothing to do with these adjustment charges. You need to contact the carrier. My advice consider changing to USPS.

It happens regularly with UPS and Fedex and from time to time with Canadapost. We have asked for detailed receipts for all eBay labels when created (3 years + but fell on deaf ears)and charged for several years but has yet to happen. If you click on the first link when a label is created it shows any discount but no physical breakdown. Same thing when you click on the label info. The measurements on label "should" match what was inputted but as of late on ca they do not. Some kind of override going on under the hood. When pointed out to eBay they said to get a hold of CP. Because ebay owns these accounts they are in control of them. IF the info is entered in correctly which in majority cases it is nees to be a way to dispute. This is on eBay. Even the calculator tools do not provide a breakdown. If you go to the CP website charges/explanation are fully broken down. I believe in the past when Shippo sent revised bills after the fact they included a breakdown. Not sure if this is still the case. So unsure what USPS etc does in the USA.

As a side concern on the Canadian site it goes back and forth between getting charges for eBay labels on a consistent basis. Is the same thing happening on the US site? We have seen delays of up to 2 months for processing. Dec 5 just showed up the other day for a bunch of users. (Makes reconciling challenging)

I am in the UK and have my own websites as well as ebay, I recently sent out a large order to MENA by fedex, I measured it and weighed it correctly but when I checked the tracking fedex had reduced the parcel size and weight.

I dont but any labels through ebay and dont have any accounts with shipping companies, I buy labels direct and always pay with paypal, its easier to charge back when it all goes wrong.

Its happening with delivery companies here in the UK as well, the more costs rise the worse it will get.

I have not had this problem

    but, if it were me...

I would go to my UPS or USPS

    and dispute it there.
