Updating Tracking & Payout Holds
Summary: boxitupbaby experienced an issue where they couldn't delete an old tracking number, leading to a delay in their payout from two days to seven. Despite editing the tracking info, the system continued a payout hold due to a prior intercept. mykhailo_hut asked if there were any indications from eBay regarding the delay. boxitupbaby noted a lack of clear communication from eBay and expressed a desire for better guidance in handling such situations in the future.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I had an issue deleting an old tracking number that I replaced (the system would let me edit and add the new tracking info but the old one (which I did a package intercept on that never reached the customer) could not be deleted. So now instead of waiting 2 days or so for a payout, I'm waiting 7 (because of a system malfunction that is waiting for ME to get my intercept delivery?) Can anyone tell me if this is a common occurrence or a one off glitch? Either way it seems unjustified ( considering I paid for 2nd day air so that the customer would get his item on time, but still I come up on the short end of it ) Pfffftt

·3 weeks agoThat’s a frustrating one. When you replaced the tracking number, did eBay show you clearly which tracking event was still controlling the payout hold and what exactly had to happen before the funds would be released?

OP2 weeks agoNope....I wish there was a popup or possibly an auto-generated message that could have shed some light on why it declined...The only other info I found here in the forums was on the fail-safe type process that runs in the background to protect the integrity of the shipment (which I do understand) Still, for future reference, I'd like to know if there's a proper method or sequence that I can use if this ever happens again. (Thanks for responding btw ; )

·1 week agoThat lack of visibility is exactly what I’m investigating.
I’ve changed what I’m testing since my earlier comment: rather than just explaining a hold, I’m trying to determine whether a specific stuck payout has an actionable path to release.
If this hold was never resolved, I’d be happy to review the case with you for free — the old and replacement tracking events, what eBay showed for the hold, and what eventually happened to the payout.
No password or account access needed. If the funds were eventually released, knowing what triggered the release would also be extremely useful.
