Underpaid adjustment from USPS - WTHeck!
I shipped 6 comedy CD's via media mail and it was in a plain cardboard box 8 x 6 x 4" . I shipped it Media Mail and it was $5.50 Today I get a notice of underpaid adjustment and they claim I sent it in a Large Priority flat rate box measuring 12.25" x 12" x 6" , and they gave me an additional charge of $14.28.. It says service used did not match service on label.
This is 100% not true, I have never used a large Priority flat rate box in my life. Is there anything I can do about it? TIA

·2 years agoJust got a notice today. Sent out 2 cassettes in a brown box 1 lb. Media Mail. They say label doesn't match service, trying to get $10 out of me. Not sure how an automated service knows whats in the box, if by chance they are x-raying it they better get a better AI program to decipher the x-rays because it was two cassettes.
I appealed it right away and I feel confident it will be overturned. This the 5th time I've gotten an APV adjustment. 1st time they said it was over weight and they took $1.14 I didn't bother arguing. The 2nd time they said label didn't match Ground to Priority I appealed and they dropped it, said they didn't have a picture. 3rd and 4th time they said I overpaid and refunded me money.
It doesn't take but a couple minutes to file an appeal by Email. So I would recommend filing an appeal every time.

·2 years agoYou will have to hunt for the phone number for overcharges by USPS. I was able to talk to agent who said that a photo is taken of the actual item. The agent looked up my photo and immediately refunded my acct.

·2 years agoThis just happened to me too. Shipped a book in a 4" x 6" plain white cardboard mailer. It was 4 oz and I paid $4.13 through Ebay to print the label. Now I've just had $15.38 deducted from my account due to an "underpaid postage fee." I contacted Ebay's customer support and was told USPS marked the package as a Large Flat-Rate Priority Box. Now I need to file a dispute with the post office and wait. This Automated Package Verification System is a terrible idea.

Here is a link to a search I just did so you can dispute the APV charge: how to appeal an apv charge ebay - usps - Search (bing.com)
There is a link & email address on that page to help you get it resolved (pic below of the page). I am sure this time of year it was a mistake at the local post office ... but that is just a guess on my part.
