Undelivered or lost sold item shipped via FedEx through EBay. How to follow up?
On 10/6/2025 I sold an item to a buy in Dallas for $180. I'm in CA. On 10/7/2025 I shipped the item via FedEx ground economy through EBay and brought the item to a FedEx store. Tracking showed an estimated delivery date of 10/11/2025. Today is October 30, 2025. FedEx tracking showed the item passing through Dallas on 10/12/2025 and arriving at a FedEx facility in Hutchins, TX on 10/13/2025. There are nt further entries after that and no updated delivery date.
I've called FedEx twice and went to the store once to ask what is the current status. They refuse to provide any info to me as EBay is the shipper, not me, since I bought the shipping label through EBay, I've also called EBay twice and customer service said they won't get involved until Nov 1, 2025. the customer has reported to me and EBay that he has not received the item. How do I follow up? I believe insurance coverage was $100. How do I collect if the item is not found? I believe the item was shipped FedEx Fast Post (combination of FedEx & USPS). If so, how does that mitigate things?
Thanks for any and all assistance.

·10 months agoYou file an insurance claim through FedEx website. You purchased the label through Ebay but Ebay isn't the carrier FedEx is. What you can do is upload the tracking number to the case that the buyer filed however like someone else said you don't want Ebay to step in to give them the refund you want to do it manually.

·10 months agoOne has to wonder if tracking stopped because it hasn't gotten scanned after it left Hutchins(tiny town).
And one has to wonder if buyer received item but buyer noticed it doesn't show as 'delivered' but has been delivered.
There are a few buyers who watch tracking as such and will tell seller item not received.
'insurance '...from what I read here often eBay will say it's a FedEx or/ and USPS refund and and FedEx or / and USPS will say it's an eBay refund.
Kind of like ring around the roses.
A seller shouldn't have to spend so much time looking into a refund as you will probably do.

·10 months agoThe buyer does not have to depend on or wait for shipping insurance. If they filed an item not received case, you have to refund. If you wait for eBay to step in, you will be dinged on your seller rating and be charged the FVF. The insurance claim is on the service you used, even if they hand it off to another carrier. So you have a claim with Fedex through eBay.
But refund your buyer right away.
