Truth in Shipping

I am bidding on a DSLR camera with 2 lenses and the sellers only shipping option in $18 first Class mail. We all know this is not going to ship first class.

The average buyer may not realize this item could be shipped by a method that tkes several weeks, and not what is estimated by shipping it first class, what is what they assumed they paid for.

I have seen listings where a seller offered to ship a stereo receiver by media mail.

Personally I have purchased an item and paid for priority mail and the seller shipped it by a lower cost method, ground advantage etc.

Let's not get into ebays posted delivery estimates which sometimes are so far off it leaves your head and fist shaking.

So when it comes to a delivery method promised by the seller, no harm by sending it faster, but, what if they send it by a slower method?

Is there some sort of policy that talks about "shipping not as described"?

I have "eaten" alot of postage since selling on ebay, due to my miscalculating on shipping costs or by promising priority shipping. I have always fulfilled what I promised for shipping and often, my last sale, in fact, paid the extra 2 dollars to send a book priority that my buyer paid media mail for.

There is. it states in part "

Sellers must not:

Use a slower shipping service than the one selected by the buyer
Include any additional fees for handling and packaging when offering free shipping

If the seller lists a specific Shipping method (i.e. they don't just offer "standard shipping"), he is expected to use that method; it's part of the transaction, even if the seller is offering Free Shipping. The buyer is entitled to ask for a partial refund if he pays for one method but the seller uses a cheaper alternative instead.

Seller probably never 'updated' their 'policies' from 'first class' (which was a package) to Ground Advantage, which is ALL the same thing.

But...I have NO idea why you are stating 'picking a shipping method that would take SEVERAL Weeks?? There is NO Shipping that takes that long in the 48 Cont.US (Haw; Alas could that long, as well as other international).

If they have it listed as shipping First Class, don't think they can pick a slower method.

Is this a newer seller?
